Disclaimer: I have no screenshots of this, so believe me or not, whatever!
I have had several friends World Transfer to various servers in the last week after the FFXI Future announcement, and some transfers failed. When they contacted a GM to manually finish the World Transfer, the GM said to be careful of doing a lot of transfers because of a potential server merge very soon.
Has anyone else had any experience like this?

Yes, GM's have always spouted nonsense. Occasionally they guess right, don't hinge your plans on second hand unreliable information from an SE employee.

If I remember correctly, with the exception of Japanese GMs, GMs are outsourced to third-party tech support agencies and only really talk to anyone directly employed by SE when policies are changed or something is seriously wrong.
Lol yes there will be server mergers but not till closer to year end.

This is definitely not the case for all of them, although I can't say for certainty whether it's the case now.

I used to have a file with a copy of the GM handbook that (I think) Gludd leaked. I dunno what happened to it, I need to look on my other PC and see if it's still there.

I heard that some Canadian GM's said the game is not going to cut off console support !
last time I complained to a gm about people taking too long at behemoth pops they said most zones will become instanced soon so just deal with it for a bit longer.

They are outsourced they are hired through wiredtalent.com

LS was setting funny search comments one day and I left mine up while I went AFK for awhile. Came back, got a PT invite and the BLM instantly drops, on my way to the party I'm thrown off of my Chocobo and zoned into Mordion Gaol and greeted by a GM named Teelow who seemed kinda thrown off when I knew exactly why I was there. I removed it and he let me go.
