How many people would actually be down to start fresh characters and level up and go through the missions, in a group, the old fashioned way?
I wish I had the time to something like that. Sounds fun.

I think a lot of us are in the same boat. I am, for sure. I'm not talking about a rigid static or anything like that. Just a group of people playing the game together, more or less in the spirit of the classic FFXI.
I'd be interested in this and willing to make a mule on Asura or whatever. My playtime is usually 7:00 - midnight EST Monday - Thursday, and all day Saturday and Sunday.
If that fits your times, I'll make a character tomorrow.

At this point i wish ffxi to enter easy mode.

I wonder if anyone on Cerberus would be interested in this concept. I've already started doing Windurst missions on one of my toons but doing them with a group would be a lot more fun.

yeah, hopefully all the old content 1-75 feels like a stand-alone game with trusts. the more the feeling is that someone can get into the game and just play for progression in someway that doesn't involve looking things up; the better.
if players were force fed sparks initiation and trusts from the very start i could see the game being entertaining for some new faces..
and dam if i say it, it would be pretty cool if yeah there was generation z & y popping up and there really are legitimate 'incompetent' players nearing endgame levels. (someone was hating on this over yonder')

It's not like that at all now. With the books repeating automatically even solo w/ 3 trusts you level up pretty fast. Combine RoE, etc. Much better than the old days, cause let's face it you can't really do the old fashion way. Plus if you have 6 people and take on VT-IT mobs + book pages, it's still a much better improvement.

Getting whm from 1-20 took an excruciatingly long time.
The days of dying in Valkrum Dunes constantly cause you have like 10 HP. I don't miss that !

I think that is why I picked black mage when I first started the game. Wasn't too difficult to get a party invite. Cause people actually did skillchains and magic bursts.
hahahah..yeah wasn't anything nostalgic about spending 6 hours in valkurm and between noobs, (like me im sure for a bit), fake DCS due to ineptitude, waiting hours to get a healer, or the general ***party in general led you to getting 700 exp total gain...
