The problem is that content varies so dramatically now that we no longer have objective bests. Tbh, it's pretty rare that I bother with ACON unless it's an emergency.

So, what situation are you building for?

Tanking what? DDing what? And with what party setup? The Mage frame is going to depend on your gear and the relative magic evasion of your target.

I would say hold off on mage dd, its very under whelming for most things. That said 99% of pup is basically custom making a pet for each mob, and varying the attachments u use based on buffs/debuffs. With the advent of the 1200 jp gift, we have a lot more wiggle room now with setups.

Rng - solid dd choice (use VE head if target is moving, SS head if stationary).
tnk - i prefer whm head + ve body for 99% of things (optic fiber 1+2 and a higher teir auto repair kit) ve/ve has its places

If you need any kind of PDT, use Armor plate 4, its is substantial stronger.

While there is no 'set', you pretty much want TC1/2, and Optic fiber 1/2.

From there it really will depend on what your doing. You can go pure DD more if target has no ae, and just forgo armor plates.

If your in a party full of blu that ws a lot, you want to avoid inhibitor/speed loaders, they make your pet hold tp and will drastically reduce their ws use. But if its you + pet + 5 trusts, by all means use inhibitors/speedloaders.

If your target is > your level, use attuner + highest tension spring you can, if its not then just use tension springs.

Acc attachments will depend on gear/food/weapon. If your using augmented ohats, and eatting shiromochi, most exp mobs wont need acc attachments. Even in t1/2 in escha i rarely need acc attachments.

In general, i prefer DA attachments over Crit, just to build tp faster. But if you want larger hits with less tp feed, use crit.

Good post, Dustin. I always appreciate that you actually answer people whereas I typically just tell people to figure it out themselves.

Also worth mentioning about Dynamos vs. Coiler, Coiler is incredibly good for Bone Crusher. Dynamos however are pretty ***and only really useful for String Shredder(God forbid it happens outside of multistep)... and Coilers are better for that also.

Refer to the "So you think you can tank" thread for my DPS setup.

Pet "Turtle Tank" Set up:
Maximizing PDT/MDT; Minimizes hate loss from dmg taken
(Purely tank set up I use for tanking Escha Kirin/Kouryu)

Soulsoother Head/Valoredge Body
Strobe II
Optic I/II
Mana Jammer III/IV
Steam Jacket
Armor Plate III/IV
Auto Repair Kit I/IV
[Stabilizer IV]
[Target Marker]

Hope this helps!

Any recommendations on a pre-100 JP auto set up for solo CP? (sitting at 6 JP currently, I am hoping hitting 50 and getting animator Z will see a decent jump in automaton strength).

Until now I have been doing Soulsoother head/valoredge frame with optic I/II & ARK2, strobe I/II, coiler II, armor plate 4, etc. (cant remember off the top of my head, but that's the basic set up) and using mostly DD/Support trusts. Worth noting that I am having accuracy troubles on my auto...skill is capped, but I just don't have great gear. Not wiffing 100%, but maybe sitting at 70% ish hit rate.

Would switching to RNG auto and using a tank trust speed me up at all? I was even thinking doing a valor head/sharpshot frame tank/dd hybrid set up so I can use all DD trusts to speed up kills.

Any suggestions appreciated :D

I did almost all of my CP solo with Valoredge/Sharpshot with a tank trust, usually Amchuchu.

I don't know what your gear or attachment setup looks like to offer any changes, though.

At the moment my gear setup is super basic: Eminent H2H, Eminent Animator, 4/5 Taeon with crap augments, Pitre Body, Rajas/Epona's, Brutal/Mache Earrings, Aptitude Mantle (obviously for CP only), and Kuku Stone.

I have a ton of obvious upgrades coming in the next few days (Tali'ah set, klouskap sash).

My current (solo CP) automaton setup:

Soulsoother Head
Valoredge Frame

Attachments:
Optic I, II
ARK II
Inhibitor
Strobe II
Speedloader
Turbo Charger
Armor Plate IV
Shock Absorber
Coiler II
Heatsink
Mana Jammer III

Use a tank trust with valoredge/sharpshot and swap out stuff like shock absorber and coiler for an acc attachment. You can also get some easily gotten pet acc with regimen mittens, hurch'lan sash, and some naga pieces.
