Elemental obi's in 2014
Are the Elemental obi's worth it in 2014. Just recently discovered how to get these but before I spend what little time I get to play just want to make sure it's worth it or should I focus on something else? I play all jobs FYI. Thanks in advanced.
if weather/day is active and the % damage adds more than whatever item you have on at that point, then yes.
Waist slot normally is one of the weakest in a nuker set. Most likely an apropriate obi will beat any and every corrent waist, unless your gear is pretty crap.
But i dont think its worth having all elemental obi, and also have bad time in white and dark day, but indeed, i have an ice obi and couple with my twilight cape, i can deal a bit more dmg in iceday. Ah, almost forgot, its great by using /sch and casting apropriate weather. If you play whm a lot, make korin obi. If you don't mind another -6 inventory, make the other 6. Any of these, you'll need to add rules for if day/weather condition is met, blah blah blah. I play sch a lot ... so I have all 8. It's very nice and I only wish SE'd be kind to my inventory by making it 1 obi to rule them all... You do a 10k nuke with Stone5.
Obi ads 1000 damage. Yes it's worth it. Nothing else is even close waist wise. Elemental obis are still the best in slot when they apply, for anything that does damage. Sadly, as far as I've been told by everyone I've asked, Gearswap doesn't know how to handle them properly or something. Which is why I still use spellcast. >_>

Quote: yes it does, they just don't know how to handle the rules. Can you please share this info. I have the same problem and would love to utilize my obis. I have makeshift rules to work with the SCH storms being active but for some reason only the ice obi works on actual day and/or weather but no other elements. Before I switched to Motes files, here is a portion of a sch file Byrth and I wrote. Finally, if the spell matched either the current day or weather, it would equip the sets.Obi[spell.element] set, which included the Obi, Twilight Cape, and Zodiac Ring (never acquired it, however) Offline

I don't have the obis, but this is how I do it in motes files. You can do it with obis too, obviously:
Code sets.midcast['Elemental Magic'] = {back=gear.ElementalCape,ring2=gear.ElementalRing} function job_midcast(spell, action, spellMap, eventArgs) elseif spell.type=='BlackMagic' then if (spell.element == world.day_element) then gear.ElementalRing.name = "Zodiac Ring" gear.ElementalCape.name = "Twilight Cape" else gear.ElementalRing.name = "Sangoma Ring" gear.ElementalCape.name = "Toro Cape" end crevox youre missing weather and storms

I must be doing something wrong, thank you for all the examples but none worked for me. I am using bokura's SCH gearswap and like i stated before the rule I'm using works for Ice but not anything else. If anyone is bored and wants to look at what I have I posted it on pastebin. http://pastebin.com/e6pu5r3p 586 is the line in question. Iv tried many things now for months maybe I'm overlooking it. I will just rewrite the rule I guess if all these are working and mine is not.
