I'm running this on a quad core on a 29 in LED tv 1920x1080 resolution. I am seeing some horrible pixilation in places like Qufirm Island, as I move around the ground looks like creap all blocky. Any ideas? Here is my graphics card specs:

Yes I run windower makes an improvement visually everywhere but on stuff like that. My girl has a significantly weaker pc and the game looks gorgeous, what gives?

What are your ffxi setting. Resolution, over/super sampling, etc etc.

I assume you mean the "sparkle" you get in the distance on textures. Turning up MIP mapping should fix that or at least help.

It's like a "balls" pattern on things like the clouds texture.

It's very, very visible on the SKY if you go to the border of the zone and look on the horizon, the clouds on the bottom look like a sea of balls ... lol

It's indeed an artifact of mip mapping. The textures were originally made for the PS2, no ? (lmao)

Well I did setup my game like this:

General:
Enable MIP MAPPING ON
Start in Windowed mode ON

Screen Size:
Overlay: 1280x1024
Background: 2048x2048
Menu: 1280x720
(monitor is 1440x900, I just hit maximize icon after game boot up so it assumes maximum possible resolution with the taskbar on screen. very nice setup...)

Textures:
texture compression: uncompressed
on-screen maps: uncompressed
fonts: high quality

Effects:
Enable bump mapping: ON
Environmental animation: smooth



And nope, 100% windower free. (No, thanks.)

Anyway, anyhow, there's so much one can do about a old *** game which had been ported from PS2 with tiny textures which were converted from a lossy format (PS2 TIM2 textures) to another lossy format (Direct X DDS).

Not to mention that the game was originally made with TV resolutions (640x480, 512x512) resolutions in mind ...

Oh Well ...
