Recording FFXI Gameplay

Yeah I was just wondering what programs everyone uses I've been using Open Broadcaster Software lately because I use it for multiple games and it's free. Another thing I was wondering is what kind of settings work best for FFXI I have an I7-4790k so I can handle pretty much anything just if anyone could give me a rough number on bitrates and if I need to downscale the aspect ratio ratio (keep in mind these settings are for file output not streaming) I can't stream with my rural Iowa upload speed of .38mbps. I know that my settings will be different from most people's but I'm just looking for a solution to the blurry text boxes that make my videos look ugly. Thank you
