I'm sure it'll be a successful school.

I don't think they fired the teacher because they don't know what "homophone" means - they fired him because a lot of people in the general public don't know what the word means, and the school is worried that most people will think it relates to homosexuality. In other words, they fired him just so they can preserve their image.
Isn't the whole point of a language school to teach people what certain words mean?

That is not political correctness.

That is linguistic ignorance.
He was fired for explaining homophones on a blog, where the administrators correlated it as the school supporting gays.

According to the article, the whole concept of homophones was explained extensively, so it couldn't be about linguistic ignorance.

It's about political correctness because the administrators didn't want to be tied into a gay agenda.
Linguistic ignorance on the part of the administrators.

Besides only lefties enforce political correctness right?

Because (mostly) lefties cry about enforcing political correctness.

The general public is stupid.

There are so many examples to prove the stupidity, it is unreal.

I know I should be an actor right! Seriously if you dont recognize that even here there are people(at less extreme and more realistically) who have a superiority complex and treat forums as a place of intellectual pissing competition then you just might be one of them.

Wait, so the general public is the same as the users of this forum now?

Your original statement is that you are amused that the school thinks that the general public is stupid.

How did you jump that far ahead of the argument to compare the general public to users of this website?

You implied the general public is stupid. You are putting your words in my mouth. I basically said they assumed the general public is ignorant of the meaning of the prefix homo. Don't confuse the lack of education in a single degree as stupidity. Ignorance is not necessarily stupidity. Users of this website? I said there are people who treat forums as blah blah... I believe you took it upon yourself to see it as an attack against people here when it was not it was against SOME users of internet forums IN GENERAL. It goes back to what I said before were I simply dramatized stupidity I see in forums after a statement was made on a forum that I would in fact say something stupid. You see a connection here? Anyways sorry if I went against your individual code of conversation but I'm pretty sure you went out to cause derailment and how about you just stop now. =)

Yes, yes it is.
That being said, if it doesn generally fall under federally-protected categories (termination due to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or handicap status, or being requested to perform illegal activities, etc.) then it doesn't matter.

Yes, unfortunately in most states, you can be fired for literally anything outside of what Milamber mentioned. It's notable that sexually orientation currently isn't federally-protected.

And in this case, it wasn't his sexuality that was called into question, but his speech/writings/publication. Or, to put it another way, his views.
