The return of shoegate!

Ivanka Trump Responds Predictably To Aquazzura’s Shoe-Copying Lawsuit
She denies, denies and denies some more.

Quote:
There’s at least one thing Ivanka Trump wants to throw away even more than that shady letter she got from an indie jewelry brand.

You might recall her shoe line was slapped with a trademark lawsuit by Italian luxury brand Aquazzura back in June for allegedly copying its designs.

Now, in a move that should surprise no one, Trump wants the whole suit thrown out. In a court document filed Friday, she denies any wrongdoing in the case of the uncanny similarities between shoe designs, arguing she hasn’t engaged in any “infringement..., unfair competition or deceptive trade practices.”

Trump denies having copied Aquazzura’s designs ― in fact, the word “denies” appears 65 times in the document ― and says repeatedly that she “lacks knowledge or information sufficient to form a belief as to the truth of the allegations” against her.

Trump’s shoe brand is licensed by co-defendant Marc Fisher, and the footwear company filed its own response asking that the case be thrown out. Back in June, CFO Matthew Burris told The Huffington Post that the “lawsuit is without merit” and “aimed at generating publicity.”

However, history may not be on Trump’s side: Christian Louboutin famously won the right to his red soles in 2012, while a few years ago Gucci was awarded nearly $5 million in a case against Marc Fisher for a copycat design by Guess.

We’ll be shaking in our fancy high heels to see what happens next.

Proof that she has a promising life ahead of her in politics.

Best headline of the week!

Trump Backs Up Titanic, Hits Iceberg Again

Its their Friday talking points so the article is long and honestly the headline is the best part, but here's a few highlights. They admit they stole the headline from the National Review*, a right wing website.

Quote:
...
The most extraordinary thing about all of this is that Trump is so incensed at Machado, and so wrapped up in his hissy fit, that he absolutely ignored Rosie O’Donnell, who this week tweeted that Trump was nothing more than an “orange anus.” Even vicious insults from Rosie didn’t get a rise from Trump (which is, indeed, extraordinary — because it likely has never happened before), because he was so focused on badmouthing Machado....

Other bad news for Team Trump: the Trump children fondly remember being introduced to capitalism when their parents provided money for a lemonade stand — which had to be paid back (they had to turn a profit, in other words). Unfortunately for them, they set up their stand on the lawn of a Trump house in a very wealthy neighborhood’s cul-de-sac, meaning there was pretty much zero foot traffic for them to pitch their wares to. Being Trumps, the kids solved their problem — by browbeating the help into digging deep in their pockets to buy lemonade from them. No, seriously, you just can’t make this stuff up. Their charming story might even have been an offering at Trump University, in fact: “How to grift those with less money than you, 101.”

...
By week’s end, Team Clinton was expressing outright glee over Trump’s overreactions. Brian Fallon just tweeted the snarkiest comment I’ve seen all week: “Oh look, Trump is dominating the news cycle again. Whatever will we do.” Heh. Cracking jokes like that simply wasn’t possible this time last week, it bears mentioning.
*
Quote:
The extraordinary thing about this is not that a conservative is ridiculing a debate performance of the Republican candidate for president, since he’s not the only one who did so this week (more on this in the talking points), and also since the list of Republicans who support Hillary Clinton is growing by the day. No, the extraordinary thing is that the author wrote this before Trump started actually fighting back against former Miss Universe Alicia Machado. French was just talking about the debate itself, but for the entire rest of the week, Trump backed his personal Titanic up again and again, and tried to just ram through the iceberg, over and over. He was even up early this morning, providing yet another day’s legs for this story.

A REAL Benghazi scandal!

Benghazi Middleman Tied To Unaoil Bribery Scandal, Source Told FBI
This is the Benghazi investigation you should actually read.

Looong article. Openers:

Quote:
WASHINGTON ― A middleman the State Department relied on to hire unarmed guards at the U.S. facility in Benghazi, Libya, previously worked with a company that’s now at the center of a massive international bribery scandal.

The FBI and law enforcement agencies in at least four other countries are investigating allegations ― first published by The Huffington Post and Fairfax Media ― that a Monaco-based company called Unaoil bribed public officials to secure contracts for major corporations in corruption-prone regions. In Libya, Unaoil partnered with a Tripoli-based businessman named Muhannad Alamir. A former Unaoil employee who served as a confidential source for the FBI told investigators that Unaoil and Alamir bribed Libyan officials. Unaoil and Alamir deny they bribed anyone.

Alamir started working with the State Department in early 2012, less than three years after cutting ties with Unaoil. He provided Blue Mountain Group, the small British security firm that won the Benghazi guard contract, with the license it needed to legally operate in Libya.

The State Department hired Alamir and Blue Mountain to recruit the local unarmed guards who were supposed to secure the perimeter of the Benghazi compound on the night of the Sept. 11, 2012, attack.

The State Department’s Accountability Review Board concluded that Blue Mountain’s performance was “inadequate” and contributed to the deaths of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans ― but made no mention of Alamir or his companies, Eclipse and Xpand. The ARB acknowledged that unarmed guards couldn’t be expected to repel an attack, but nonetheless faulted them for failing to warn U.S. personnel.

“No [Blue Mountain] guards were present outside the compound immediately before the attack ensued, although perimeter security was one of their responsibilities, and there is conflicting information as to whether they sounded any alarms prior to fleeing,” the ARB found....
And lots more. Including actual facts!

Conspiracy Theorist Alex Jones Says Donald Trump Called To Thank Him After The Election
Trump has long had cozy relations with far-right media personalities.

Quote:
President-elect Donald Trump called Alex Jones, the prominent conservative radio host and conspiracy theorist, to thank him and his followers for their support, Jones said in a video posted Friday.

“Listen, Alex, I just talked to the kings and queens of the world, world leaders, you name it,” Jones recalled Trump saying. “But it doesn’t matter, I wanted to talk to you, to thank your audience, and I’ll be on the next few weeks to thank them.”

Jones has long been on the fringes of the conservative movement, using his radio show and his website, InfoWars.com, to propagate widely debunked or baseless conspiracy theories ― such as the notion that the Clintons are murderers or that mass shootings in recent years were permitted by the government as excuses to strip away Americans’ rights.

But he was also among Trump’s most ardent media allies throughout the president-elect’s often-volatile and controversial campaign. In the video, Jones railed against mainstream news outlets, calling Fox News “fake right-wing news” and labeling CNN “pathetic.” He also praised his own audience for backing Trump.

“He’s not calling other media, he’s not meeting with other media, he’s not talking to media,” Jones said. “He wanted to directly talk to you and thank you because you’re the people, you’re the Americans, you’re the bitter clingers, you’re the people they couldn’t break your will, they couldn’t mind-control you, you’re the core that’s going to restore the republic.”

Trump has made no effort to downplay his ties with right-wing fringe media personalities. Steve Bannon, the former executive chairman of Breitbart News, served as CEO of his presidential bid. Trump announced Sunday that Bannon would be his chief West Wing strategist and counselor in his new administration. Bannon and Breitbart News have both been criticized for advancing sexist and anti-Semitic views.

If Trump goes on “The Alex Jones Show” in the next few weeks, it won’t be his first appearance. He gave what Jones called “an exclusive interview” on Dec. 2, 2015 ― back when most people still considered Trump a long shot for the White House.

And the media is lambasting the whole "facts I don't like" outrage while posting unsubstantiated, little-to-no-evidence-to-support-said-article, and blatantly libel articles such as those 2?

I mean come on now! They still haven't figured out why the public trust in media is at an all time low?

To be honest, I'm concerned.

I don't want the Republicans to be in total control over every aspect of government. I'm actually more afraid of either party being in total control over an extended period than I am about anything the government can do to destroy life on this planet.

But the way the liberal media, and basically liberals themselves, are handling this election, they are almost handing power to the Republicans for the foreseeable future. And that's scary.

Just like you can't depend on a Republican to solve social issues, and you can't depend democrats/liberals to solve economic issues, you shouldn't force such power on a party for an extended timeframe.

I agree with all you said except for the almost part.

And it is scary.

But the traditional media, and its interweb offshoots, still fail to understand the seismic shift in our information gathering habits.

See the clickbait headline posted above.

If you call a person you had sex with a horseface does that imply you are also, sexually attracted to horses?

This sounds like a question for Matthew Broderick.
