I bought the ps2 version on release march 2004. I spent the first two weeks on Bismarck before transferring to Quetz to join a friend, and I've been here since.

I quit in 2008 and resubscribed June 2013. Surprising enough, I still play with a sizable group of players that I played with before I quit.

Yeah, I started out around the PS2 release (on PC tho'). I go on extended breaks every few months since 2007 or so, but I'm still kicking around.

And kicking Ores around. As payback for when he kicked me.

Been on just about every day except for a few weeks after D3 came out.

Since PC NA release. Took a 6 month break to try out 14 and came right back to 11. My play time gives me grey hairs and angers my wife

PS2, April 2004 (Happy 10 years to me ^^) only have taken 1 official hiatus, was hacked around the release of ToAU and left for a little under a year.

Ahoy there 2004 ps2 launch I made my start in siren in sandoria if only we could make a career for being in game 10 years. But hey any sane person needs a break I took 3 myself. But here I am today still answering the call of the siren lol!!! To the friendships made and to the memory of friends who moved on thank you for time I got to share with you in this amazing game. Long live square Enix and siren.

July '04. Never actually took a break, closest I came was August '07 due to normally working graveyard but being really understaffed, so working for 12 hours in 120 degree heat really wore me the hell out lol. I never cancelled subscription, but slept too much that month to really play heh.

Still playing, naturally my time devotion isn't what it used to be, but I still enjoy doing a few things every night before bed.

Funny thing is just about every person here beats the Guinness world record for playing a game. It was something that came up a few years ago can't find the link to the actual listing. They actually requested someone to contact them who had posted a screen shot of their play time that was longer than current record holder. I don't think the person ever responded though.

Started playing 25th December 2004. Have taken two longish breaks though, one for 6 months and then a year break. Have been back on the game for about 3 weeks now.

Have seen many changes in the game, the worst being Abyssea and it's brainless exping.

Still loving the game, hopefully it will be "on it's way out" for another decade :)

Started 2005 and quit like 5 month later started back in 2008 then quit again in 2013 for XIV release. Came back in january 2014 for couple of months and stopped playing again since 2.2 came out for XIV.

Ive taken a couple breaks myself. After my first Character was banned I took a 9 month break and I just recently came back a month ago from not playing since last October.

Started in Feb. 2004 (at least if memory serves correctly).
I picked a Galka because (at the time) they were the least popular race choice, and maybe still are. I always play as characters that are the least chosen in games if I get the option. Although I liked the design, and I'm a fan of large characters as well.

My first 60 was WHM; and it was quite the bumpy ride lol...
My first 75 however was BLU. I remember the night I installed ToAU and unlocked Blue mage. I learned 14 spells in 4 hours or so. It was (and still is) the only time I ever stayed up till very late for FF11. Needless to say, Blue mage knocked White mage of the highest job pedestal in record time.

I remember when exp items didn't exist, I saw the introduction of level sync, FoV and GoV, Abyssea and all the other smaller changes twist and reform the game I started playing all those years ago.

Even with all the many changes over the years, I still adore playing this game every day I can. It might not be the most 'enhanced' game graphics-wise; and yes perhaps it's outdated, but that doesn't matter to me.

Looking back, I think starting in Vana'diel as a WAR 01/-- in this strange zone they call South Gustaberg might have been the start of my life's biggest adventure in gaming history.

I hope this game will continue for many more years!

Started with the beta, then took a break in '04 for about 8 months. Came back and played solidly until 2009, when I quit from 2009-2011. Came back again, started completely over, and have been enjoying watching the game change and adapt over the last two years.

Started first day of ps2 release on Carbuncle I'm glad my server never went away I miss the fun old days and the memories I think back to that time and it makes me sad that I can never relive them and the people I met along the way but that is the nature of an MMO.

I've been gone from the game for about 2 years now and I often think about FFXI heck I still wear my real life silver Sandy ring everyday because it gives me STR+1 maybe I should come back what do you guys think?
