Questions On The Current State Of The Game

My name is Smackster, I played for a good while on Cerberus and quit almost immediately following the release of whatever that expansion with RUN and stuff was. I play league now instead, haha.

Was thinking about maybe playing again now that I have time and everything but I was curious how the game even worked anymore.

Is NNI gear still godlike? Abyssea still the fastest way to level? Are mythic/relic still the best weapons with the Abyssea weapons being runners up? Is end game even a thing anymore or is the game so revolved around low man and solo that alliances no longer happen? Are there certain jobs that are underpowered still (like pld was)? Some that are more popular and highly sought after (like brd and cor were)?

How long would it take someone like me who had a decent character back then to become relevant again? I had 15/15 NNI and a couple empyrean weapons but is that laughable now?

Why do some items have no delays and only augment dmg in them?

Items have so much data on them that it gets split into two pages in-game now (for some of them, anyhow). You're seeing a screenshot of the second page that has the augment data.

While I am pretty sure BLU is outclassed in every way by some other job, COR is still a great job and highly desired in a lot of endgame content (assuming you take the time to gear it well enough) and you can bust out some really good damage.

It isn't quite DRG, but it's greatly overhyped for what it is.

You'll want Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Bard, White Mage or Corsair decently geared if you want anything.

The game has undergone massive changes since the new team took over. It's a much better game now. Tons of accessible FUN content for everyone regardless of your play style. A lot of options for die hard who long to do old school endgame - if you like grinding, there is no shortage of options. Newbies and returning players also have options to do delve, WKR, etc... It's so much fun now.

Solo players can get things done and if you prefer 6 person set up, there are many endgame content to do with old school set up. They shine spotlight on a few jobs, but the problem is people still stuck in their jobs XYZ mentality. Expect to see shout that ask only for PLD, BRD, WHM and 3 RNGs lol.
