Character Gone

Earlier me and few ppl from my LS were doing HCNM and me and another person both got kicked off the game and our charecters are now gone never downloaded anything know if SE just *** something up or if RMT have some kind of super hacking bot? I tried making charecter with trial account with same name and my charecter is now gone and same with LS mate

Try logging in to the SE Account site and see if you can reactivate from there. Sometimes when there are problems with billing (usually on their end, not yours), they cancel your account(s) and require you to reactivate.

My square enix account is gone also I can not log in to it

'Hacking' isn't as simple as most people make it out to be. Compromised information comes from a few sources(ordered most to least likely):

1. You shared your account info and someone used it to log into your account and delete stuff.

2. You have malware on your computer. This copied relevant info to people who used it to access your account. You downloaded this at some point, or acquired it through a security exploit in one of your programs. Keeping firefox and flash up to date will drastically lower the probability of this occuring.

3. Someone you shared your account with has malware on their computer. Read #2, don't share info with people who aren't very clever(or just don't share info).

4. SE's account database has been compromised, in part or in full, and they've used that to access your account. While this is a possibility, it's extremely unlikely that it would occur this late in the game. Had it happened, it'd be more widespread. This is probably the closest to a RMT super-hack.

Of course, if you look outside the assumption that your account was stolen, there are some bug possibilities, but that's incredibly unlikely. I'd just examine these possibilities and react accordingly, odds are you'll be able to get a rollback if you still feel like playing, just don't let the same thing happen again.

A few questions:
1) Who were you doing the BC with?
2) Are you friends with anyone who was friends with Foldypaws? Something similar happened to him lately.



There's another option other than the four listed above:
5) He wasn't hacked and SE is just losing player data from Lakshmi through their own incompetence.

I just tried to Dbox you something, Ryan and it was a no go, sorry.

That's pretty bizarre, so either some server corruption or character deletion going on. Still need a bit more info to rule out shared info though.

Sorry to hear your dilemma. On a positive note, you have been released from the ball and chain that is FFXI... Run dude! Run fast and hard and don't look back.

try requesting a password reset, and login WITHOUT your onetimepassword, they usually deactivate the token once they have access.

The above two tests indicate that it's not a password problem. They show that the character is gone from the Lakshmi server. It was either deleted or server transferred.

Even banned characters are kept on the server (name is reserved - you can still send them stuff and can't make another character with the same name). If can't send things to someone and can make another character on your server with the same name, it means the original character was deleted or server transferred.


Out of curiosity, Ryan, what was your character's approximate liquid net worth when you were banned? Like, if someone was going to strip your character down in 2 hours and sell all your crap, how much gil would they have made? Also, did you have anything unique that we should be looking for in bazaars?

I was doing KCNM with Leilow and melshia and they had their mule Jerseygirl. both melsha and jg are gone also

Who is on your friends list that you can contact outside the game and is currently active??

If it were server transfered/name change to your toon then it's location would still show up on their friends list. I don't know if that would work 100% if the pol account the toon is connected to changed since thats the account people befreind etc.


But it seems like your character got deleted in some capacity. Good news is that can be reimaged. But it's not something a GM can do.

This same thing happened to my friend on Leviathan about a week ago. We were duoing Dyna the day before he logged and when he tried logging in the next day his character was gone. I was trying to dbox him some Airlixers after he logged that night but it wouldnt recognize his name on the server, I told him the next day on Skype and he checked on his SE account and it still shows his character and says "recurring" but he cant select his character when he tries to log on.

does it SHOW his char in the character select menu? how about in the SE site menu, does it show the NAME of the char? usually when chars are deleted, it just says "Character" for that slot.

Your character has either been deleted or server transferred. No other possibility regarding your own character, it's either one, 100%.

You should contact the support on Monday to receive help, as they can restore your account access and your character data, it will just take time but they can do it.

Also, did Leilow have access to anyone's else account, such as yours (or had any opportunity to send a trojan or whatever of the same kind to anyone listed/you)? If you want more than just getting your account and character back, I'd suggest starting your investigation by answering this question.

It is tremendously unlikely that this would happen simultaneously to three of the four characters that are doing something together while leaving the server relatively untouched if it was actually a random event. If it wasn't a random event, then it depends on something, like who has your login information or what zone you were in at that particular moment.

However, I don't like the obvious "one of your friends did it" explanation for several reasons:

1) The character sounds like it was deleted or server transferred pretty quickly, which means it was a smash-and-grab if the purpose was RMT. RMT wouldn't server-transfer a character if they wanted to sell the account.

2) I think most of Ryanx' gil was in R/Ex weapons.

3) Gil is cheap on RMT sites right now ($4/mil, RMT tells inform me?). What would they stand to make, $100?

4) Testimonies of similar cases on our server (Foldypaws - had token) and off (Comedies) open me to the possibility that this isn't an isolated case.

5) It is safe to assume that the vast majority (think 90%) of characters on Lakshmi are not active and would not be noticed if they were suddenly deleted. All the characters that have ever been created and not deleted (including all the banned RMT gibberish accounts) still exist on the server. This includes all the characters from the Garuda server pre-merger. Assuming there's random character deletion going on, we're going to underestimate the rate of it by about a factor of 10 because we aren't counting all the other characters. It might be much more common than we think.



Ryan, does your POL Account still work?

nope pol does not work and same with square enix i can not even log in with pol + on the pol site and yep alot of my gil was put in to rare/ex stuff

That sucks Ryanx... so many ppl getting hacked this week Foldypaws was hacked too.

Every once in a while I come back to read threads. Saw this and checked accounts (not sure why), one of my secondary accounts on bahamut is gone. No Pol or SE account management access. Last time I checked was prb June-ish. Wierd because I never kept anything worth much on it since it didn't have a token. I would more expect an attempt to hack Cat than a tertiary account I tri-boxed with.

If the POL Account was also deleted, this sounds like it's purely an SE account management issue. I bet they messed up. There is almost certainly a bug eating their POL account database.

Getting them to reverse it will really be the trick. Contact them ASAP.
