Considering Coming Back

Been gone a year, considering reactivating for a month or so, but when I went to log in, apparently my token's battery had died. Ok, no problem, I guess I will have to unlink it.. so I went to the management page, was boggled at the comment on it being an 'app', then it asked for my 'Emergency Removal Password'.
Which I do not think that I -ever- had.
So... is there anything that I can do that will NOT require hours on the phone?

They made a phone app. Considering you need your temp pass to get to your management page properly, you're going to have to call them.

Skimming to see what I missed in the last year (outside of expansion).
[1] It doesn't matter how many level 99s you have, everyone has them?

[2]It doesn't matter how many Empy+2 armor sets you have (or Relic+2 augmented sets you have) since the new expansion made them all worthless?
[3] No new Summoner summons, or puppetmaster attachments?

[4] Woe/Relic weapons/Mythics/ all worthless as the new thing is 'Delve' weapons that you can only get if you already have 'Delve' weapons?

[5] Any quests and missions are in the new areas/ people go to abyssea for exp and new areas for new equipment, and 'old world', and 'aht urghan' and all that are pretty much completely empty?

How close did I get?

Thank you. *sigh* Now even more wondering if it is worth it (the aggravation of the call). I assume, then, that this little piece of Square Enix plastic is completely worthless now?

Yup that's pretty much summarized it. More updates on SoA will bring solo and low man content, expect updates like this from now on since that is the one thing that's lacking in SoA. All the previous contents are still working just fine, the problem is finding people to do them. Also seems like everyone been reporting the lack of players in their servers. Maybe they will all be back once Fall season is here, or Winter, FFXI is always more of winter game to me. You can download the token app from Apple Store Apps.

How empty are the servers? (Bahamut was mine, but I am interested in the situation on others as well). How empty is anything NOT SoA? I had gotten to all but the final Voidwatch battle, but does anyone do Voidwatch or Walk of Echoes or Abyssea anymore?
Does anyone do -anything- with the rest of the world, or is every zone more than a year old literally empty?

I want to come back at least to look around, but the aggravation of calling is worrisome.

The last time I logged in Phoenix was about 1,100 people. People still do Voidwatch and Abyessa. However with the release of FFXIV getting closer and summer time being slow. I would suggest waiting a bit for more content. I don't play on playing again till all of the expansion is released (who knows when that will be)

Around 1,100 to 1,400 on Sylph at any one time it seems. Shouts are mostly dead though and people stick to doing things in their linkshells.

I might see 2 VW shouts a day, a few Delve shouts (usually already starting at 16/18 seeking WHM BRD or PLD), and then a bunch of people spamming their coin/alex/crafting material sales. Yesterday I did see someone shouting for Dynamis Qufim EXP which was kind of new. Also been seeing some Einherjar shouts now and again. The odd NNI shout still pops up now and again too.

All of the expansion.... I admit, I hadn't looked at the new stuff, but I remember that Wings of the Goddess (the last expansion) came out on November 20th 2007... and that it finished in December 2010 (I think that is when the Lilith Ascendent fight happened?

Does that mean that you might be waiting another 3 years? ...
*sigh* I miss the game, but am getting more disheartened.

I'm
New gear is great for TP and ws but relic/empy gear is needed still. Augmented gear especially. Delve weapons are kewl but there is a plan to up the damage of r/m/e at some point.
Pup master got huge upgrades....back piece and new animator and H2h weapon make pup insane. There is still a ton of stuff 2 do.

Alright.. I was looking at the new "Log in event" thing.. and from what I can see, I can either (a) get 40 pieces of Dynamis Relic or (b) for the same amount of log ins get a synergy chocobo hat? I realize dynamis is 'old' but... ?? Am I misreading?

Mythics are not worthless

Alrighty, so I decided to try for a bit, I thought I might make a record of my thoughts.
Day 1>
So, I spent the time on the phone and was able to log in yesterday. It was nice looking around.
I decided to see how many 'goblin points' I had built up; I had 3833 on my main and 3010 on my bank character. Went through them all using the 50 points each and got... well, not a single 'special' item in 130 some attempts. Now my bags are full so I am selling and npcing them. Linkshell destroyed and friends list mostly empty but... I can't be surprised about that.
Day 2>
Second day, I come in and...maintenance! hahaha. I log in later and actually run around the Bastok. I notice that there is a double besieged going on so I visit it dressed in what I logged out in (a moogle costume). Nice easy thing that I can't mess up, I run around healing people. Eventually I get the hang of it and change into more appropriate clothing. I seem to remember how to move, change equipment, and cast spells! Nice. Even got a few skill ups.
Lets see how this goes.

Confused by what Eriina said but, um... ok.
Night 2> Tried Synergy again, despite being capped couldn't make synth - I assume most people do synergy in groups or have alts so that they can do things faster? Hm.

LOL yup, the Delve shout is mainly filled already with maybe 3 slots open for Scholar/Blm and Rdm, or those non DD jobs that no one wants to level up. On another note, mog garden is great activities, and you can get lucky with some of the items you can find there. Other than that, log in now for the points, redeem those, and unsub. Go play other games, or you can try FF14. Do check back to see if the developers decided to make FFXI fun again. Or just bite the bullet and keep playing FFXI :)
