I have available:

Maleficius
Chatoyant
Gils

I don't wanna spend the time working on TOM Weapons, as my playtime is limited. It's incase I ever get called as a Blm.

Any advice?

Chatoyant. You can drop Maleficius if you want more inventory space.

Is Chatoyant that much better?

Maleficius is great for blm. Allows the player to actively switch from meleeing to nuking without the lose of TP, while having a higher melee output than staves.

Sorry for the small necro, but I own a Chatoyant that I basically wear full time... my friend pointed out to me last night the Dorje and got me thinking about those +25 MAB... I don't see many BLM's with Dorje... most run around with chatoyant at least in leviathan

Would it make sense to full time the Dorje or Chatoyant is still better for most situations?

Chatoyant Staff wins over Dorje. It even beats the BLM mythic staff with MAB+60.

Basicly MAB sucks compared to the stats you get on chatoyant or magian staffs.

Ignoring the 5 INT and Iridescence, you'd need 300 MAB before staff for Chatoyant to be equal to Mythic in damage, and that's not going to happen.

should really just get the 6 basic ToM nuking staves instead. Dorje is best for Meteor though.

Yeah, better to compare Mythic staff too the magian staffs rather than chatoyant.

For meteor Leviathan > Dorje > Ankylosis wand > Plenitas Virga > Chatoyant staff

Meteor is not all about MaB do testing before choosing your equiptment. Dorje or leviathan are used to fill the MaB needed wile building a strong INT set in equiptment, Lack of INT will result in a resist.

Basic Tiers magian staffs will still come out on top of Chatoyant unless you have weather.

Meteor can not be resisted. INT is a valuable part of the formula, but that isn't why.

Ideal Meteor

Substitute meteor

(Of course Leviathan will beat dorje on these sets)

Basic Tier set (in partys) with magian staff

(There is new equipment to replace existing slots iv posted)
(Solo blm would be different set)

Show results on formula. then showing it can not be resisted. Int plays a large part in any spell casted, landing and criting. I have not looked at formulas iv done my own testing (over 4hours) with each peace i intend to use and try, and find the best results for my race/merrits. And iv found that INT is vital to have in your meteor set, in most areas Int will out perform mab by a small fraction.
