Iridescence: Increases the bonus and penalty of weather effects by an additional 10%.

A small test that I did in abyssea la theine:

atmas:
rescuer: 10% cure pot
harmony: 10% cure pot (Really gave me 1%, however I was missing phalania locket to cap w/o. Replace this with minikin)
allure: 30mnd -30enm

Stats:
mnd: 199
vit: 115
healing skill: 454 ( I have healing magic merits)
cure pot: 50

Arka IV:
cure IV: 1018
rapture Cure IV: 1624

Chatoyant:
Cure IV: 1102
rapture Cure IV: 1760

Basically any situation where you can cap cure pot or get close to it while using chatoyant staff it beats arka IV.

EDIT: Just seems obvious that if you can cap potency with 10% staff, the weather bonus would make it better.

Damnit didn't see parent board, just the thread title lol. Anyways, I wouldn't be on sch or bring a sch to main heal in abyssea/vw in the first place.

Also, are you sure Iridescence increases penalties too? I thought it was only bonuses because well.. It's every element.

Chatoyant/Obi/Aurorastorm is better than Arka IV provided that you have 38% cure potency or greater.

Proof for you skeptics.

Edited to reflect twilight cape.

I'm not sure. I just copied it from ffxiclopedia. BGwiki on the other hand says

Iridescence: adds an additional possible weather proc for 10% damage bonus. Iridescence can proc with or without normal weather bonus procs, significantly increasing the chance of a 10% bonus proc, and also making a 20% bonus proc possible.

Obviously Whm a is better healer, but sch can heal quite a few things now. Not to mention I'd definitely bring sch over whm if I was doing something like Empyrean farming, because near full time embrava is just that good.

I can hit 40 using twilight and obi still, I'll see if I like it in nyzul in a few moments.

Double weather will be different, but not by much. You need 39% to make Chatoyant better in double weather.

And actually, you should use Tempered Cape, not Twilight Cape, for double light weather (Nyzul)

in case sylow's stuff is too complex for you to understand

1.50 * 1.15 = 1.725

1.38 * 1.25 = 1.725

Effective potency becomes equal to 50% cure potency + weather + twilight + obi + Arka at 38% cure potency with weather when you're wearing prism staff + obi + twilight.

With the aforementioned 40%, it goes up to 1.75, effective "cure potency" of +75%. At a theoretical 50%, it'd be 87.5%.

So... only need 28 cure potency before the 10% on Prism staff to make it equally effective. Anything over that makes it more effective.

In rare conditions like double weather + day, prism staff is potentially pretty worthless since its bonus is probably capped.

Double Weather + Day does indeed cap bonus making Staff + Twilight Cape worthless.

Not quite, you still get the 5% from cape when it's double weather + day (Zodiac ring works this way as well). I'm assuming you don't get the 10% from staff, but it hasn't been tested yet.

Do you? I thought the bonus was hard capped at +0.35.

Sorcerer's Tonban don't go past the cap, apparently, so I assumed Twilight also did not.

Twilight most definitely does, it's special. I retract my previous statement on Zodiac ring though because I'm not 100% sure that it does. You can most certainly get 1.4 with Twilight though.

Twilight Cape does not go past cap.
It just turns out the cap is +0.40, not +0.35.
