| | You will be glad to know that we are planning to make it possible to access your storage from all mog houses, however, it will be sometime after the upcoming version update. | |
Update: 07-18-2012 05:20 PM | Okipuit | Community Rep
| | Happy Watersday! (IRL)
I interviewed a few chocobos about holding our gear for us and they stated:
Lower Jeuno Chocobo said: Wark!? I'm guessing they're not quite ready yet...
That's okay chocobos... For those of you juggling your equipment, weapons, and items, development gave us a nice bit of inventory information!
This may take a bit of time but they are proactively checking to see if it's technically possible to have additional inventory space as well as expanding the Mog Sack's maximum capacity.
As some of you may have heard, we will first be making adjustments so that it will be possible to access your Mog Storage from places other than your home nation.
We'll be sure to keep you updated as we progress!

so basically just an update that they are still working on a few things they said they were working on. I guess this is good, better than saying Cait Sith and Atomos summons coming then nothing for a year lol.

Nearly a year after the fact. I predict another 6-8 months before something drastic happens with inventory.

storage access everywhere..."possibly" "looking into" Mog Sack Expansion
i do believe...thats what we want yes, shall we now harmoniously cry out in a unified "NEEDZMOAREOFWHUTIWANT" in the streets?

The only reason they didn't use Atomos yet to store items is the fact that you would not be able to recover them after storing... >.>
OR they would make you have to go through a PAINFUL quest to be able to recover ONE of your items... (WotG spoiler, sorry >.>)

I'm convinced that this has become a strategy for Square-Enix now.
Make a game intentionally lacking features and functions necessary for player convince and enjoyment, or even just standard from a logical standpoint, then slowly introduce these things years down the line and hype it up as a full fledged version update to keep people going in hopes that everything will get fixed, even if it means waiting years upon years.

You know, cause chocobos are birds that start with the letter C, and chickens are birds that start with the letter C. PS2 is a three letter acronym, KFC is a three letter acronym. "PS2 limitations" was a common excuse used sometimes for things that weren't getting done, but the little post thing jokingly made it seem like they wanted chocobos to carry our gear, but they weren't ready to. So it's the limitations of the bird that starts with the letter C.
It's a joke.

Their solution to storage is make everything storable at an npc for a fee or transferable to a mule... it has its uses and all but its more annoying than helpful for some ***.

The truth is it's pretty foolish to think the QoL benefit from this would be more than totally irrelevant considering how quickly everybody can get to their home nation from anywhere in the game; the hype machine works by making you excited to get something irrelevant by constantly reminding you you don't already have it and that there's no burning reason why you shouldn't.

Considering their archaic coding style that dates back to Famicom/NES days, the absolute maximum number of items they would be able to put on any inventory category would be 256. That even with the PS2 still active. (lol)
Keep in mind that even the PS2 is capable of crunching 128 bit numbers and would easily deal with 64 bit numbers (that's it's native word width, mind you as it's a 64 bit RISC CPU.)... </sarcasm>
(yes, the PS2 is really 64-bit that's not sarcasm)
Edit:
Sarcasm aside, I think they're worried about their precious server bandwidth and longer inventory lists mean longer queries to their database, longer packet lists, longer data transfers. Considering that this game has all the math and inventory stuff server sided, they might be afraid of being obligated to run a beefier server than what they have now. /huh
