So basically for the first part of an assignment I have to interview 2 people, and as I like to wait until the day something is due to do it, I still need to ask 2 people some questions, feel free to answer past 2 replies though, yours may be better or more interesting.

Assignment:

Quote:
Overview

Technology is a part of almost every profession today; some more than others. This assignment focuses on the role of computers and technology in various industries.

For this project you will find out more about how technology influences your possible career choices. One of the most frequent questions I get asked is "what computer stuff will I have to know if I want to be a(n) ___________________?" Now you'll get to find out on your own, and learn to do basic Internet research at the same time.
Requirements

Step 1: Choose a profession to research. Choose a profession in an industry in which you're particularly interested. You can choose a field you plan on going into yourself, or one you just find interesting. Make sure that you choose a field in which you can find plenty of information -- and professionals to interview. If you are already employed full-time in your field, you can still interview your bosses, people in other departments, those who have taken a different path in the same general field (ex: a teacher may interview a principal and a school IT administrator). This does not have to be a computer science field! I've had several students write excellent papers on nursing, pharmacology, law enforcement, accounting, even running a vineyard. You'd be surprised how much technology is invading your life! :)

Step 2: Research issues in your field. Determine two major technology-related issues or controversies in the field you've chosen. You may have to do more research on this after you do Step 3.

Step 3: Interview at two professionals in the field. Interview two different professionals who use technology in their industry. (You cannot interview me, other instructors or family members.) I suggest focusing on a profession that you are considering. You should ask (at least) the following questions:
What is your job title?
What type of education would I need to get into this field?
How has technology changed this field?
What salary range could I expect starting out? (Don’t ask them how much they make!)
What is a major technology issue or controversy in this industry?
Where do you see technology taking this field in the next three to five years?
(there's more but irrelevant to this part).

Would apprechiate feedback, looking mostly for people in a hardware or software design field, am probably going to focus on the issues of copyright holding back innovation more than helping it, or something promoting open hardware or open source software. Thanks in advance.

(Obviously the number in the title is fictional)

What is your job title? Head cook at McDonalds.

What type of education would I need to get into this field? PHD in french fryology.

How has technology changed this field? We now have timers on the fry machines when they're done it makes a beeping sound.

What salary range could I expect starting out? (Don’t ask them how much they make!) I make 6 figures!

What is a major technology issue or controversy in this industry? Jimmy keeps forgetting to wash his hands.

Where do you see technology taking this field in the next three to five years? I expects all the workers to be replaced with robots that can do our job such as serving food to customers and spitting in the food of rude customers.

Full Disclosure: I don't work at McDonalds and none of this is intended to be factual.

Well, it's not really in the design field, and it has nothing to do with copyright, but hopefully this helps for your assignment.

What is your job title?
Network Administrator (for an automotive retail company)

What type of education would I need to get into this field?
High school, and then (in order of importance, and depending on if starting entry level or not) experience, technical certifications, college degree.

How has technology changed this field?
In the automotive retail sector, technology shouldn't have changed the sales process much (besides demonstrating bluetooth capability, offering wifi at your locations for customers, etc.). While there are products aimed at streamlining the sales process (a tablet that can show a video demonstrating a feature of the car), I feel this takes away from the actual sales process (the sales person actually physically showing a feature of the car).
In the service department, as the technology in the cars have grown, so have the tools to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues. From my experience over the last 10 years, the diagnostic tools to connect to the cars to pull codes and update firmware have become a lot easier to configure and update.

What salary range could I expect starting out? (Don’t ask them how much they make!)
This varies greatly depending on for which field you're doing IT work for, what geographic regoin you're in, your education/certifications, and how much previous experience (work or otherwise) you have...

What is a major technology issue or controversy in this industry?
Our biggest issue specifically is 3rd party vendors wanting to sell us products, and then trying to integrate with whatever process they're trying to do while still securing our customer data and internal network infrastructure. Everyone seems to have a product that will magically make us sell more cars and service, and most of them do not take securing any data seriously.
On the other hand, it isn't too surprising, as a lot of other automotive groups do not try to secure their infrastructure anyway. Leaking of customer data can result in a $10,000 fine per record... it's simply not worth the risk.

Where do you see technology taking this field in the next three to five years?
Many manufacturers are diving head first into integrating with Android and Apple IOS for different sales and service tools. This requires secure ways to offer wireless on the corporate network, as well as using proper solutions to manage the devices themselves. Many companies are implementing a "Bring Your Own Device" policy, in which someone who already has a compatible tablet or phone could just use their own (not a fan personally).

Your lucky if you can turn it in 3 days late. If that were at my college it would have been an automatic 33% deduction per day. so 1% assuming you got a 100% on the paper lol.

20%, so I'll get a 40%, since it's worth 25% of my final grade, I'll get the most a 85%, a B, since I'm doing about 97% on everything else right now, meh.

I detest writing, plus the teacher is cool, I may be able to work something out, I really should have had it done tuesday, but I slept way too long, like seriously I slept for like 12 hours and I have no idea why, then I had to go to work for a bit, so here I am, getting it done. (the sad part is I haven't done anything but watch a few movies since sat night...)
