Ranger Wildfire
Hello! I was looking for some help on a Ranger Wildfire set
This is my current set up please let me know what I can do to further increse my set to its maximum capabilities on ranger. My bad on the necklace I didnt notice it couldn't be worn by Ranger was in a rush I'll have to fix that
stoichieon neck, sveltesse belt, thaumas head/legs? novio
[li]Uggalepih Pendant is what I meant to put in[/li]
Stoiechon(sp) medal you could use for neck. Forban Cape. Athos's Body. This is just all off the top of my head. Thaumas gear blah blah but I'm sure you meant stuff not that.
edit* blaBlap beaten I dont have access to the Neo-Nyzul gear :/ no heavy DD's or sch and no one wants a rng around
Above set is near optimal, Demon rings with magic attk+3 augment, magic attack grip, and there is some cape that is ranger/theif specific that is a bit better...

Demon rings won't beat Stormsouls.* MAB grip won't beat Reaver+1.* Forgot about the Tjukurrpa mantle b/c my corsair can't use it too. Edit:*in most instances. Some mobs the pure MAB might win, but in most cases if you can get 2:1 or better on AGI vs. MAB, go with the AGI. Thank you for the quick replies I'll be sure and try to get the Athos body (Should be a fun adventure)
Any idea what makes the difference that determines which is better? Every mob I've tested on.. magic attk has pulled ahead although not significantly.
Depends on enemy's int, the higher it is the more agi you need, the lower it goes and more mab becomes beneficial.
Most mobs worth using Wildfire on are going to be worth rocking the AGI.
Otherwise you'll want to be using Last Stand anyhow. Also, inside Abyssea the AGI sets tend to test out better w/ Ultimate/Hell's Guardian/Smoldering Sky. At least it did on Corsair back when Abyssea was somehing worth doing regularly. Not 100% sure of that on Ranger, but my guess is that it comes out the same. (Except when brewing; then AGI gets capped but MAB does not, so use all-MAB gear if you're going to Brewfire things and switch one of the Atmas to Griffin's Claw.) I've actually not personally found a situation where the MAB set is better. I started out using all-MAB when I first got Armageddon, but after some preliminary testing found that even on EP-DC Abyssea mobs the AGI set was beating the MAB set. So while I know there are a few mobs out there that MAB > AGI in the 2:1 AGI:MAB scenario, I'm fairly confident they're few and far between and not really worth even switching your macros over.
Ok, I actually took the time to try some math.
Assuming /blm, ideal cor wf set(sorry dunno which would be rng), mob with high int and no buffs, Elder pulled ahead by a tiny margin(and by tiny I mean really tiny!) Values are way too close to even consider one better than the other, we should put into the calculation atma/cites, temp items and jobs buffs, but that would cause a lot of fluctuation I think due to the fact that those values are not absolute. Edit: I mean, buffs may be lost, atmas might change depending on necessity/playstyle. And in case my math was off, forgive me, it's midnight and I'm very tired! :c I don't even know why I did it! Should redo the math. Sylvan feet +2 + seiryu's kotes + thaumas kecks + thaumas hat comes out at 5 more AGI than your set. Basically, kecks and hat are the only two useful pieces for RNG, including last stand. Maths: 9 - legs 9 - feet 8 - hands 14 - hat 10 - set bonus 50 - total 15 - seiryu 15 - sylvan feet 9 - thaumas legs 14 - thaumas hat 2 - set bonus 55 - total P.S. Referring to the "ideal" set posted above. I did zero math. I spitballed it from what is best for Corsair.
Sorry, trying to help on the fly. Offline

So judging from everyone's post, I assume it's safe to say that Set A is the "Optimal" and B is a more "Suboptimal but accessable" option.
A: The Optimal AGI+95 MAB+38% B: The "Next time bring more TH" AGI+78 MAB+32% Funny note since it's all math: The Optimal's set # is 262652 (26 + 26 = 52) God I'm a nerd... Athos tabard would be the best substitute to Tessera, granted you have the means to poke B-Rex.
Edit: also, Karin obi as long as you can get a firestorm from a nearby mage. Offline

Set B is less "Best substitute" so much as "Easily Obtainable But Still Decent"
