I was looking threw some music and I realized. I haven't bought or even downloaded any cds in a very long time. Looked around and I realized, pretty much every band I listen too hasn't releases much in the past few years.
Bands for example, Nofx, Lagwagon, Less Than Jake, Offspring, Millencolin, Rancid, Strung Out, Vandals, Pennywise etc.
Is punk dead, or as it just evolved into something else?

The fact you listed Rancid as punk shows it was dead long ago.

Kinda saddening the punk has now become some of these new age bands that just sound like, i dunno, whiny garbage?
Maybe it will make a come back someday, I used to love going to Warped Tour but the last few years, I don't even know who 2/3s of the bands are that are there.

Not sure how they aren't "punk" but it was differently the scene growing up. Maybe its because it was so. cal and most of those bands were local. When you would to high school is prob years after I went to high school.
Also listen to Bad Religion, ramones, left over crack choking victim, dead kennedys, the casualties, bad brains, circle jerks, etc.

Ok, well. When did you go to high school, and what do you consider punk bands?

Sid Vicious and the Sex Pistols as to be one of the worse "punk" bands ever.

Reflecting what Kimble said about the Warped Tour, I went two years ago thinking it would be great
as always and after paying a dollar for the xerox'd paper to see what/where bands were on which stage...
Me and girl at the time realized we shouldn't have paid all the money for the tickets.
I worked my magic and got us both refunded 5min after entering...
A testament to a change of a tour that use to be like a Punk Rock pilgrimage.
There is still a few bands who drop new music that I listen to, namely Bad Religion,
who's music has matured a lot but they are still Punk and still one of my favorite bands.
The Offspring is coming with a new album real soon as well, excited for that one.
(hed) p.e. have so many different styles its hard to classify them really
but they are Punk Pock, they embody what it means to be.
Flogging Molly, again not traditional Punk Rock but they consistently make great music in their sub-genre.
I think the hayday of Punk is basically gone but there is still some quality stuff out there.
As always, opinions/***. My 2 cents.

(hed) p.e. always struck me as "nu-metal" like korn and deftones, etc.
They are more rap-metal.

I was trolololing :/
I'd consider Green Day pop-punk. I don't know where pop-punk fits into this whole thing, but all I know is I don't like it.

I liked older Green Day. Insomniac, Dookie, Kerplunk, etc. Nimod was prob their last good album for me. Warning was "ok" but its when they started to change.

They are more rap-metal. Yeah, I brought them up mainly because they have that Punk Rock spirit that's still alive
even though the music isn't traditionally Punk. I think they're categorized as Hardcore.
What are you talking about? Green Day is still around! I can't lie, always have and probably always will listen to Green Day.

They caught so much flak for Dookie, they were band from a few venues out here for "selling out".
When they dropped Insomniac, it was so fkn hard and fast, they pulled no punches
in making a truly great Punk Rock album.
Not trying to ride *** or anything as I'm not a really a fan of their new stuff
but that album will always be on my iPod.

Also punk has been dead a long time, and needs to stay that way.

I'm 28. Clash and Ramones did. Sex Pistols, no. There were a horrible one hit wonder band and started out as a freaking fashion project to sell clothes.
I understand you're British and all, but still. There are many other great British punk bands.
I was looking threw some music and I realized. I haven't bought or even downloaded any cds in a very long time. Looked around and I realized, pretty much every band I listen too hasn't releases much in the past few years.
