Have any of you traveled on a plane with your security tokens? I'm flying out tomorrow for a two week trip and I'd like to, at the very least, keep up with Guild Points and maybe some light farming.

I have a friend whose security token was confiscated by the TSA a while back, and it took him foreverrrrr to get SE to remove it from his account and to have another one sent out.

Just curious if anyone else has had/heard of any problems when traveling with this nefarious, remote-detonator-looking demon.

shouldn't take any time at all to remove one from an account if you use the online chat, I'd say there shouldn't be a problem but the TSA is comprised of morons so.

He didn't have it though, that's the problem. The TSA took it lol.

doesn't matter if you have it or not, it's still easy to deactivate...

my roomate had hidden mine from me and didn't tell me and I had no issues deactivating it.

Pretty easy to deactivate with SE. Just need your POL ID and registration codes etc. I'm surprised SE sent him another token, SE told me it's one token per account and wouldn't sell me another one even I lost one.

Just put it in your luggage, rather than carry-on. I'd imagine they wouldn't really care if you had a "remote detonator"-looking device somewhere that you couldn't reach to use. lol

wow they basically took a keyring from him..Alot of businesses use things like this, seems strange that they would confiscate something like that :S
Anyway you can deactivate it np if they take it, takes all of 5 mins on online chat. Had to deactivate mine when I sat on it and a key went through the screen =/

SE Token FAQ says you can purchase a new one if you need.

I've carried mine on every trip I've made since they were released. Even all the way to South Korea a time or two. Always attached to my keys. I've never even been questioned about it.

I do find it strange that they would take it. Lockheed Martin issues them out to their employees as well. One of the reasons why mine rarely gets a second glance at the office (even though I don't work for LM). They're becoming more popular.

Yeah I was pretty surprised they'd take it, too. Then I remembered the ride home from Iraq, where no joke, they took a pair of cuticle scissors.

I had an M16 and a loaded M9 that apparently weren't dangerous, though.

Probably not entirely related to the topic, but asked here anyways .-.

If I lost my POL registration code(since I have this account for years and no longer have box/CD with me), is it possible to get the info from SE? Thanks.

Probably not. You can buy an account and have all the info.

I travel a lot for work and have a token for work and ffxi with me for over....7 years of flying have never even had a TSA guy think about giving me a hard time. Kind of sounds like a BS story to me.

i have flown with mine a few times. just attach it to your keychain and send it through the x-ray scanner. they should just let it pass with no issues.

many banking and investment institutions have them as well for account access, so TSA should have seen them before from bankers and heavy investors

It may or may not be bs. I've flown twice, ever, and on one of the trips they took a locket necklace from me, lol. I think what they will or won't take just varies a lot from airport to airport.

Just tell them it's the remote to the bomb that's being loaded into the plane, nothing will go wrong.

I could understand the potential for it being taken away by a TSA person who is not familiar with remote tokens like these. However, it says Square Enix right on it, just like WoW's says Blizzard entertainment. Putting it in the luggage that's loaded into the plane (not carry-on) runs the risk of a random luggage search and then you being held and questioned, along with any other belongings being rummaged through.

I think it really depends on TSA agent though, as I've dealt with some pretty stupid ones who just love to be rude. You could always print out the form on SE's security token page explaining what it's for and either show that to TSA if they ask what it is, or tape the token to the printed information and put it inside your luggage in case they rummage through it.

Just an idea. It's doubtful you'll have a problem, but better to be prepared than have it confiscated by an idiot.
