Christians persecuting people they disagree with, in America?

WHO'D HAVE THOUGHT?!

All the while claiming they're just, and that they're just following the bible? That they're not condemning people, but being a barbarian is okay, for God?

What's next, they're gonna start claiming there's a war on religion by the liberal media? Oh, wait!

They do have "Christians" in Australia.

I just wish more "Christians" would actually follow Christ's teachings. Some do you know. But neither they, nor their churches, wind up on the news.

Because Jesus, who ate with prostitutes and sinners and said "let him who is without sin cast the first stone" would totally have pulled a woman from her wheelchair.

I'm non-religious and don't bother with the stuff, but even I can see that the worst thing that's ever happened to Christianity was Christians. ._.

It's only the nutjobs/extremists, really. I know plenty of Christians that wouldn't even consider doing something like that.

I realize this is an extreme example, but sometimes the way I see mainstream Christians act just baffles me.
1 John 4:20 (KJV):
"If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?"
I'm a Christian, but whether you're against homosexuality or not, there is no biblical ground to justify such hatred.

Like giving all your worldly possessions away?

The bible is full of crap. Just live a good life and be a nice person. Dont need a frikin book to tell you how to be a good person - JUST BE A GOOD PERSON.

I meant to type that -_- But I'm so damn used to poking fun at American Christians ~_~

Australia and America really aren't that different at all, if you follow these things.

Quote:
“Do not think that I came to bring peace on Earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.” (Matthew 10:34-39 NASB)

There is, actually.

If these religious zealots would spend their time in more meaningful protests, maybe SOPA wouldn't be an issue.

It disgusts me how the people who speak the word of God think they have the right to play God.

Read the Bible at home alone and don't say a word about it to anyone. That is how religion should work anymore.

@Xueye: I'm well aware of that scripture. Please, explain to me how that justifies hatred. Standing up for what you believe in is one thing. Hatred that consumes you and leads to violence is something completely different. The good will always be enemies to evil and vice versa, but are you trying to tell me that Christ condones hatred and violence?

It's sad media coverage is so heavily emphasized on the crazies.
Then again, what's scary is that there are enough crazies to warrant that coverage :/

This is why me and my girlfriend simply dont take part in these sort of events in our region's lesbian comunity. It's just not worth the hassle of dealing with religious nutjobs and asshats. we'll just keep to ourselves and ignore the haters, easier that way.

While it certainly is the most comfortable way out, you should make an occasion to support your cause if it has a degree of legislative influence. If nobody confronts the laws, let alone the jerks that picket, then nothing will change :(

But yeah, I rather chill at home with my partner watching netflix and simply send a letter to my local senator than take part in that >_<

All the important rallies go on in toronto and that's like a 2 hour drive! So we only go out for the really important ones.

this.
however sadly I doubt there is more than 5% of churches who are active in their community more than in their own church building(as they should be doing more outside themselves) "Christians" are not Christians anymore they are people grown on going to a building every Sunday and thinking in their head "Hope this is over soon." I stopped going to church ages ago because no one there even knows what it means to be a Christians.

Religious zealots around the world are dismembering civvies and the worst thing your can find on Christians is some grinning lady in a wheelchair claiming to be pulled out with no hard evidence other than her word?

Forgive me if guffaw at this.

If it did happen, deplorable. But there are people throwing moltav cocktails and bombing bus stops in the name of religion (if you think I'm harping on the middle east, think again - think Ireland for example. It's worldwide).

Besides, if you are going to condem a group for the worst factions of them, let's start on someone that deserves it, shall we?

"2 members removed for their own safety"
"our book teaches us that homosexuality is a sin -- BLOODY LIAR"

(still lol'ing that someone said "liar" to anothers belief system)

As an agnostic, this disgusts me and has me sympothisizing with the sane Christians and all the ***they have to put up with.
