What I assume was sarcasm aside, Alcohol makes you colder, true story. And for the price of four cans of special brew, you could buy a bloody jumper. I have an excuse to go drinking midweek now during the winter! Lakshmi.Mabrook said: » Homeless people are lazy, there is no possible excuse for it. Stop trolling, please. Weird, cause I've seen people being serious about it.
The fact that they are able to generalize a whole class of people as lazy, probably as a direct result of a preconceived notion of how every homeless person acts or lives is a testament in itself to how wrong they are.
Some homeless people have cars. Some homeless people are permitted temporarily living spaces. You very well may know someone who is homeless; they may work at your job, be in your class, etc.. Not all homeless people are the people on the streets struggling to get by on the day to day, and even then attributing that to simple "laziness" is beyond reproachful of an accusation. You can be "well off" and homeless. Clean looking and up-kept. And you can go to apply for a simple job to attempt to get together money to manage a monthly rent, but one of those first lines on that job application is going to be permanent address, and the person is faced with choosing to lie or taking on the preconceived notions of "what it means to be homeless". Caitsith.Shiroi said: » I used to be kind and give change to beggars when I had some on me, but I don't anymore because most of the time they just want to abuse of people kindness. Scenario 1: Guy says he lost his bus pass and need 1$ to get to work. I give him 1$ and then he moves on to the next person asking for 1$. Guess what, I see him there with the same story the next day. Scenario 2: Guy ask money for food, I had some spare change so I open my wallet and give him the 50cents I have. He insist many times seriously that I give him that 20$ and then attempts robbing me. Since then, I give money to street artists. I was with an ex and we went threw calgary bus depot and well there was someone asking for money to get home to Regina. My ex gave him a few dollars when we came back threw a week later the same guy was still there. Well my ex went up to him and ask how much he makes because he saw him here last week doing the same thing. He told my ex between $3-500 a day. I love the world of bank cards! Cash.. what is cash! As for this topic. http://www.endedmontonhomelessness.com/ But this only works if the person wants to get off the street. Some people living on the street even if you put them up in a place to live or give them a job they can do. They still want to live on the street. Now you ask any person who plays by socities rules that you work get foor and shelter this doesn't make sense. But it's just a different way of looking at living. Is it wrong no just not what socity thinks is normal. People like normal. The only hand outs I give is my soda can. If I see someone digging threw trash for cans I will give them a bag I haven't taken in for recycling yet. Why it $5-10 worth of can but it save me the trip and they are happy. Also they are working for there money vs asking for a hand out. Drjones said: » Why is this in FFXI General? My bad. I posted this quickly and didn't look where I posted it xD. Anyways, thanks for the input guys, this helps a lot in what to write about for my paper. :D Leviathan.Bimbam said: » lol What I assume was sarcasm aside, Alcohol makes you colder, true story. Pretty sure I can't feel anything when I'm drunk. People became homeless because of their onlinegaming addiction?

But what i hate though, it's when they ask me money for alcohol, i said no and then they starts to swear at me and calling me names..i really hate that. How much of this has to do with the fact that the specific person is homeless, though? Addressing symptoms and generalizations rather than underlying problems is a good tactic, really it is. Cuelebra,
/sigh Read more argue less. I think you completely missed the second paragraph of my initial post, and if you would have read the third you would have seen that I agreed with you, but I'm still apprehensive. I don't think it's fair call someone ignorant because of what charities they choose. Also, plenty of other people have said the same thing or have had similar thoughts. It kind of seems like you are overlooking other posts. It seems a little antagonistic. Just saying... :) Ragnarok.Harpunnik said: » Sure it happens. However there is that percentage, and a very large one at that, that are not competent enough due to medical conditions to seek out social services, mental health services etc. That percentage should not be judged or pigeonholed as "lazy" by the general public under any condition. |
