SCH AF + Relic Worth Getting?

As the title states, I'm a newbie SCH (BSed to 80 by 'accident') and I'd like to gear my SCH for endgame.

Is Relic and AF worth getting, or is it just easy enough to do SCH Empy +2 full time? What select pieces should I get to macro? Generally any info on gearing my SCH would be greatly appreciated. ^^; I have gear already for RDM WHM and BLM 95....all three generally just using AF3+2 for their main armor.

Short answer: Yes to both

Many great pieces in both sets.
AF feet / relic head: boost casting/recasting bonuses under arts.
AF head / relic body: boost sublimation

AF legs / AF body: Boost skills under Light/dark arts, although the body is less useful these days

Relic legs / hands great easy obtained pieces that boost dark /enfeebling magic skills

Relic feet aren't terribly useful nor are AF hands.

HOWEVER SE is updating all relic and relic +1 pieces in the near future so who knows what they will look like in a month or two.

yes and yes. SE had already stated they would be allowing +2 versions of relic and af at some point but besides that SCH af/relic is very functional.

AF pieces
Scholar's Gown: offers +15 enfeeb/elemental/dark magic skill, ull need for Kaustra.
Scholar's Pants: offerings +15 healing/enfeebling/enhancing. Depending on ur other gear u'll prolly need this for phalanx/embrava set. (if u have portent pants u can just leave these in porter moogle)
Scholar's Loafers: +5% fast cast and -5% recast timer.
Scholar's M.Board: Basically speeds up how fast u get ur sublimination bubble blue! Besides that u could do without.
Scholar's Gloves (meh they kinda are useless)

Relic Pieces
Argute M.Board: +5%fastcast and -5% recast timer.
Argute Gown: Another Sublimination piece. U'll need for embrava phalanx sets unless u wanna dish out 3M+ for the AH version of Anhur's Robe.
Argute Pants: Dark magic skill. Ull need for Kaustra unless u have Portent Pants.
Argute Gloves: kinda of useless imo.
Argute Feet: kinda of useless imo.

Don't forget the AF1 Weapon, possibly most important.

I only really use the following 5 pieces and except for the 2 fast cast pieces there are better alternatives, although they aren't so easy to get.(I never bother with Dark skill equipment)

Fast Cast:
AF Feet
Relic Head

Enhancing Skill:
AF Legs(or Portent Pants)
Relic Body(Anhur/Hyksos Robe)

Sublimation: (Can replace with anything Refresh+)
Relic Body(AF3+2)
AF Head(Nefer/Heka's Set)

Sublimation gear is not replaced by Refresh gear, the two complement each other. Refresh gear does nothing for you at max MP whereas Sublimation gear will still allow you to charge Sublimation more quickly.

No job should use 5/5 AF3+2 full time. Especially mages. Especially those mages.
