I'm Stuck.

Last night I d/ced while zoning and found out that a lot of other ppl d/ced because of an issue with the server. When I couldn't back on right away I figured it was still the same issue and decided to worry about it later. Well I still can't log onto my main character. Every time I try I get stuck in the black screening with the "downloading data" text in the right hand corner. I can log onto my mule and was planning on calling a gm to see if he could move me but before I do I wanted to know if anyone had another idea to try.

Order a pizza and rent a movie while you wait on the GM to answer...

Had an issue once where my isp was working on lines and it interfered with areas I could be in, I'd get stuck at a black screen too. I would have to get a friend to move my character until they stopped working on lines.

It happened to me the same thing: dc while zoning, and couldn't log in anymore, blackscreen forever.
I called a GM and they fixed it!

I think that same thing happened to me.

To cut out the exciting middle bit of talking to a GM/calling an actual person/talking to a GM...

I turned off and on my router and it fixed it.

Nice to see GMs are fixing this now, go back a couple years and I had this issue, GM basically told me I was screwed.

Have a friend with this problem as we speak. Close to 48 hours without beeing able to log onto main char, mules works fine. He called support and they told him the problem was with his pc, ps2 or xbox.
Think he called GM before, the GM said it was not their area and he would have to call support.

So I've been spamming the GM call but I keep getting the same form letter about contacting their tech support online. So I did send them an email but haven't heard back yet and while browsing the offical SE forums I found out that I'm not the only one having this issue. People on multiple servers are having this exact issue and have found no solution. And the SE response is always check your internet/router config...

If GM can't help you I'd suggest what others have suggested:

Restart router/modem/computer/devices
Check "POL" and "FFXI" game files in POL viewer
Reinstall game
Try logging on someone else's computer/connection

Once I had this problem when I had entered Mhuara when I was a little newb about 5 years ago, they couldn't help me. Turns out the zone was corrupt and I couldn't get back in the game w/o completely reinstalling the game...

What zone did you dc in?....and is your mule able to log into game and access the same zone

I d/c as I was zoning into Ifrit's Cauldron. My mule can log into game but its only level 5 so I can't check on it :/
