Help Configuring Windower

Ok so, in all my years I never used the program, but figured maybe I would give it a shot, and I really couldnt get it to work right. At this point I was looking just to have maybe a few plugins to make things look a little cleaner and so forth, but as soon as I installed it and loaded up FFXI... resolution goes to ***, and sound goes bye bye... and couldnt get them back to normal...

at that point i deleted windower and fixed everything ( took me a while to get sound back in game)..

Is there any advice you guys could give me for setting up something simple.. If I do eventually get things rolling smooth, I might in the future do more with it, but for right now, just want something semi simple and clean looking, with the buff counters and so forth
