Hey guys,

It's only recently i've even heard of magic being able to crit..

Was i just oblivious to the obvious or is it a new thing?

And that leads me to my main question... to actually critical hit magic do you need magic crit + gear such as the Yhel Jacket or Wise grip?

'Cause tbh, i've NEVER noticed a critical hit, i've noticed small spikes in damage but they were related to day and random MAB boost since sometimes i forget my obi's...

Cheers

10 MAB.

I wouldn't gear specifically for it [minus perhaps the grip,] but if it's already on gear you would normally be using [for example hecate's, emp+1 or+2, or yhel,] then its a bonus.

Exactly what Palides said. 10 MAB on a proc, meaning +100% Magic crit rate would be roughly the equivalent of +10 MAB. 10% crit rate would be +1 MAB.

In other words, don't gear for it, but it's also not something that would ever hurt if it's already on your gear.

What if you have "Increases Magic Critical Hit Damage"?

Example, my Eradico Mitts and my Demon's Ring with +2 MAB / +3% Magic crit damage

I've been wondering, do those increase the damage of the whole spell, or just the additional damage added from crit?

Examples:
Blizzard IV does 2700 damage base.

Blizzard IV criticals for 3000 with no MCD+ gear.

Will Demon's Ring with +3% Magic Crit Dmg. increase it to 3090 (3000x1.03) or 3009 (3000 + [300x1.03])?

Anyways, I use Nebula Pigaches +1 and Hecate's Earring, likely the best compromise for Magic Crit Rate next to Witch's Sash or BLM AF3. I've been thinking of Wise Strap, but I don't even want to really consider it unless I know my MCD+ gear will make it effective.

Um, i wouldn't really know, but i imagine, it'll increase the entire spell, similar to how a standard attack would work?

But an extra 9 damage seems lame to me whereas an extra 90 seems quite cool ^^

Indeed, there's always that last 1% left on a mob that makes you have to waste a whole nuke, lol.

Then with 90 extra damage on nukes, you won't have that problem! :P

Oh okay, so the +3% brings it up to an additional 10.3 Magic attack bonus. I wonder if anyone has found out how much increased Magic Crit. Damage Eradico mitts give yet.
