I think that ship has pretty much sailed for FFXI. There was a RP linkshell on Sylph, Crystalline, and I used to help run one on Asura, EternalVigil, but we disbanded about two years ago if not more.

Many of the RPers from FFXI moved on to FF14 together, and they have a website at http://www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/forum/
