-% Physical Damage Taken Question

is -1% or -2% worth it? I'm thinking about getting the Darksteel Set with -PDT% and want to know if its worth it?

Just 1% or 2% by itself isn't worth it. -PDT% only gets good once you start stacking.

Anyone got a good list of -PDT gear i can try and get on rdm or war?

Every 1-2% counts but you need to have multiple pieces to make them count.

Here is a relatively easy to get setup I use:



*edit* The dark rings are augmented from Konstadt because you can get MDT and PDT on one ring. However, if all you're worried about is a quick PDT set you could use jelly ring for one (patronus for the other if you're really hurting to fill slots)

Stole this set from the Rdm forums. Just replace the refresh pieces with -PDT% pieces. Namely darksteel /+1.

Not trying to be a maths freak Antihero, and yea awesome selection of gear there, very good choices, but, i think you are a little over the 25% (roughly) gear cap.

I know this isnt your set, but just saying.

Cap is 50% for PDT/MDT

50% with shell/prot. Usually 25 from gear.

Protect is defence not -PDT isn't it.

Theres so many numbers in this game it boggles the brain @.@. But yes, what applies to MDT doesn't work the same for PDT. I blame having to do Ultima for years, you get one track minded =P

But like i said, very neat set you picked out, even if used in part (for rdm) with phalanx and stoneskin would be pretty sweet. Just a shame many other jobs have to rely on "uber" gear for simular results ^^;

And of course a upgrade would be defending ring if you had it. Theres some out there! It does exist!!... I think.

PDT still caps at 50% but you need 52% in gear to actually reach the cap. I did testing with 1000 needles to make sure.

The way physical attacks are calculated are: defense then pdt then phalanx.

To answer the OP's question, why not get +1 gear. Unless you already have 52% in gear you should always try to add more.

I dug up this pld set I made for a friend of mine (who kept dying while holding Rani). All the gear seems to transfer to war nicely. I keep this on alt just in case a mob starts casting when i have -PDT/+MDT gear in my PDT set. It's handy and a life saver.

Or you could just level BST and not worry about these numbers.. j/k..but BST FTW!

Just wanna point this out Ashman, while your sugestion in gears is very good... Nocturnos Helm might be a bit tough to obtain because depending on the server, campaign battles are becoming more and more empty~

Yeah, I didn't make the build for this thread i just pasted what i had made already. It's probably easier to get valhalla these days sadly ><

Can't speak for RDM, as it has waaay different options, but this is what I currently use on my WAR for PDT:



The weapon of course is swapped for whatever I'm using at the moment (I use a Bloom Buckler when using 1-handed weapons, unless I have to dual wield for some reason). The Dark Ring only has PDT-3% (and breath dmg -2%) because I don't have a better one yet. The ASA pants have PDT-4% and movement speed+8%. Improvements I wanna work on are getting:

-Nierenschutz to replace Warwolf Belt
-Metallon Mantle to replace Boxer's Mantle maybe
-Eisen Grip to replace Pole Grip when using 2-handed weapons
-Better Dark Rings to replace the current one and the Jelly Ring

Valhalla Helm would prolly be pretty sweet, but that'd require getting into Einherjar... I think I'll wait and see if after the update, I can augment my Genbu's Kabuto with some PDT. :P
