Joining a Linkshell is basically like signing a contract. Sure it's just a game, but you can always leave and do your own thing. I haven't been tied down by an LS in at least a year, and I'm personally loving it.
Here's the bottom line. When you join a shell, you adhere to their standards and practices because you basically told them that you are up to the task they offer. That's all there is to it. No need to QQ. Just leave. It's really not that hard to drop a pearl and go do something by yourself.
