Meh I wasn't super interested in having my own garden patch anyways... What would have been cool is if they let you share a house with 2 or 3 other people instead of it being individual or FC.
Should have made personal housing its own zone, kind of like a personal room or inn room instead of being in a ward. Even if you needed an FC house to buy a personal one it would've been a lot better.
That would have been smart, we can't have that ***.

but but but server limitations.
know what gets me? games like wildstar and rift (even XI) can afford to instance a personal house (several personal houses in the case of RIFT) with no issue and they hand them out for free with even stronger personalization tools than XIV offers. what are they running XIV off of? toasters?

Pretty sure Jaerik mentioned something about them not utilizing the same kind of servers, thus not being able to do it that way.

Maybe something about physical servers too? I think that meant that instead of an area being up, always (need more room in a zone? create a temporary new one or something like that iirc), if it crashed they'd have to perform some kind of maintenance on it
I dunno, I don't know much about this stuff so I could be wrong about this but I think that's what he said. Think how Guild Wars does it, they can keep zones up even with too many people by generating overflows, they don't need more physical servers to do it.
The type of server he mentioned was apparently also cheaper to have and much better lol

started watching .hack//sign thought there was supposed to be a guy with double daggers named Kyte or something. Least I think I remember that from the one time I saw the game being played.

Personally the server infrastructure of how they handle these loads intrigues the hell out of me, but I realize I'm a nerd.

Well, this is annoying.I think my work's net shuts me off once I've reached 10gb of download for an amount of time. Dunno what the cutoff is on days. Was looking at network statistics and my mac address is the only one even near that. Next highest is like 1gb.
All of my laptops net traffic just doesn't reach passed our server. Almost like a ddos.
Sorry for working night shifts and watching Netflix in free time.
