Just got Ferine Gausape +1 and went out to Rolanberry Fields on Thundersday with BLM sub naked against Death Wasps. The same spells were done on the same mob.

w/ Ferine Gausape +1
Stone II 182 damage

w/o Ferine Gausape +1
Stone II 179 damage

w/ Ferine Gausape +1
Blizzard 137 damage

w/o Ferine Gausape +1
Blizzard 135 damage

w/ Ferine Gausape +1
Stonega II 338 damage

w/o Ferine Gausape +1
Stonega II 332 damage

Then changed subs to SAM, got exactly 103 TP, Thundersday.

w/ Ferine Gausape +1
Primal Rend 653

w/o Ferine Gausape +1
Primal Rend 641

So it works out to do about 1.5%-2.0% nothing too spectacular, but I guess it adds up over time.

Haven't tested intimidation rate yet, but will do that soon. I'm also half way done getting the +2 items so I'll test that too ASAP. Also will test out full set bonus!

Thats an Interesting test, the +2 Body probably has ~4/5%. (most +1 > +2 Items receive a bonus to the special effects. I.E: SMn body+1 gives 5% BP Damage, +2 body gives 10%)

So a steady ~5% increase in your DPS/WS Damage is not all that bad when fighting a mob where your killer effects work.

Should tested things like Acc/Eva/Def/Haste/etc Its possible like back in the old old days (Killer effects were boss as hell) they might have augmented the Killer effects in that light.

Might also test if "Killer Effect +" Gear enhances the bonus perhaps, It might make Meriting Killer Effects a priority for BSTs who are a little more DD oriented.

I like these tests however, I'm just wondering if theres not more to it!

Considering that Beastmasters are going to be fulltiming (At least) the +2 when they have it, this is actually pretty nice. Glad someone got around to testing this, Koios (or w/e) on Odin is camped worse than Nidhogg ever was, and Sunderer doesn't put out ;/ stuck at 7/10.

Testing Acc/Eva/Def might be a bit hard with such a low %, but I'll try fighting cactuars for 1000 needles to see if we get any -DT.

Panther Mask's "Enhance Lizard Killer Effect", the rest are all "Enhance Killer Effect".

Beast Trousers +1 seem to give a bonus with certain pieces, not quite sure, but I repeated Beast Trousers +1 with Ferine Gausape +1 several times and got the same damage so I don't think its randomly activated.

So Killer Effect from equipment does increase damage, though Beast Trousers +1 still confuses me...

Edit#1: Added more tests.

Edit#2: Just tested in Desert against cactuars using a charmed pet for TP gain and lowered 1000 needle damage so I don't die.

w/ Ferine Gausape +1
1000 needles did 490 damage

w/o Ferine Gausape +1
1000 needles did 500 damage

490/500 = 2.00% -DT!

Edit#3: No merits. Tested intimidation rate. Vs. Mandragora in Saruta with Ferine Gausape +1.
Intimidation 4.23 %
253 intimidates out of 6239 hits.

Tested intimidation rate. Vs. Mandragora in Saruta naked.
Intimidation 4.06 %
222 intimidates out of 5688 hits.


Seems to be an increase in intimidation rate, hopefully this is a large enough sample. Fits with the (almost) 2.00% from the other bonuses.

Xilk from Ramuh should read this before he spews more BS about minor variations in nukes.

So it means we get a -DT as well, or at least PDT, very interesting...

Just got Ferine Gausape +2 and its a 5% increase. Killer effects still give 1% for each increment.

I've been looking into ways to accommodate the 5/5, but I keep coming up with 4/5 and Dusk Gloves+1 as being the better alternative. Still winds up capping haste which is nice. I might just use the Cards I have to go right to +2 bod, instead of Upgrading Scholar's. Not like Card's of Ardor are hard to get.

I followed up w/ this testing.

I see gausape +2 giving the stated 5% damage bonus.
Merits only add .5% damage
gear add 1%, but only Killer shortbow is practical to use.
you get 8% damage bonus on bst ecosystems, and 1% on all others.

the pdt doesn't seem to start at 5% even w/ th gausape +2, but merits DO seem to add 1% each. gear is the same; adding 1% each. I think the pdt starts at 2% w/ either the +1 or +2 as it is now.

oh, and Tamer's ring gives +2%. (latent's make it useless though)

just sharing the info.

heya Xilk.

was just looking at this and became really curious about the damage reduction..

its kind of a pointless endeavor, but it makes u wonder whether this enhanced Killer Effects can be used to exceed the 50% DT cap, at least on PDT...

like, if u have enough gear to hit 50% PDT, (its possible i checked lol) then add the body+2 and merits, that would give you a 60% PDT + 10% intimidation rate yes? at least on mobs that bst can intimidate lol, or reduce the damage taken gear and add intimidation gear.. which is like 13% from gear/merits and not including the base/chr rate...

would seem useful if for some reason you're tanking on master and not pet... or getting shadows up or something idk...

just thought itd make an interesting discourse on how the BST can be solo/tank in more ways than 1

To be honest, I'd rather stack evasion gear than PDT even if it passed the cap. BST actually gets access to some pretty good evasion pieces, especially the Ferine Gausape and has. That with /NIN, evasion axes (lol), merits and atmas, and you could be an even more effective tank than just stacking PDT.

interesting idea Arciel. I wouldn't be surprised if you could push past the 50% pdt for payers... but I also can't think of an effective use for it... maybe if you want to melee along while killing something that has physical AoE... or if you were trying to tank, but thats almost always our pet's job. I don't see myself trying to get the gear to test this. No way I'm making -pdt axes for me instead of pet. so I would only test this by wearing gausape & ducal guard and letting emperador de altepa rip me up...

I've found 15% intimidation rate w/ 5/5 merits before the update, 20% after, but I want more samples for that. W/out any special eva gear (just gausape) I also see about 25~30% evasion rate vs normal mobs.
our passive defences are varied, but they add up to some nice survival.
I have to agree that eva and /nin would serve bst better in overall damage mitigation.
if you really want to maximize eva (and I've thought about it):
fugacity beret
gausape
ocelot gloves
ocelot trousers
boxers mantle(cuz we get both the shield and parry as well)
rings & earrings & neck slots also avail.
probably a good piece for feet as well, but I don't remember.

I don't quite understand how the Augments Killer Effects on the body works.

Do you get Damage +2% and -2% PDT only against monsters from the Killer Effect traits you have? Do your pets get these stat bonuses? Do you get the bonus from a Killer Effect that you pet has over another monster family even if you don't have that trait?
