Windowere Recast Help

Heya - I've been having some recast problems. New JAs are showing up as "Unknown-Ability." However, when I look in abils.xml, they all seem to be there with the correct info. Tried unload/loading, but that's about the extent I know what to do.

I'm not at a computer with my FF-stuffs, so my help isn't going to be that detailed, but there should be a recast file that has only a bunch of numbers and the date of that recast. If you're having the problem I think your having it should be some outrageous old date attached with the numbers. You need to re-download recast and make sure the other file with the long string of numbers matches the same numbers in the newly downloaded recast file. If it doesn't copy pasta the numbers over, save it and it should work. Sorry I couldn't be more specific. :(

Edit: If this doesn't get resolved by tomorrow bump this and I'll give you a better detailed description.

Well, I can't find that file, and the only recast download is the .dll which matches mine. I am at a loss. If you have any other ideas, send them my way! If not, thanks again for trying!

Edit: Unless I have to completely shut down windower. That could be something. Will check after this pt :D

I think you have to reload spellcast or recast or both try //reload spellcast and //reload recast

Also there should be a .dll and another one, I don't know the file extension though. You have to force it to open into a notepad, iirc it won't open itself on it's own.

Ok, the file you're looking for is in your plugins folder.
resources.xml
If you open it, the first paragraph will say when it was updated. Mine was stuck in 2008 for some reason.

Anyways, what you want to do, is go to this site.

Save that file over your current resources.xml file

Restart ffxi and you should be good to go.
Alternatively, you can just unload recast / reload recast after over writing your original resources.xml

I was actually having the same problem. Turns out my file was also dated back in April of 2008. Thanks for the fix.

Awesome, that did it - thanks much. Mine was dated 2008 as well, but still had things like Blood Rage and Impetus in it. Very weird. Oh well, works now! Thank you!

@Niniann NOW I saw the date, lol. Thank you, too! (I was looking for a recast specific file - and because resources.xml had all the new stuff in it, I figured it was ok... guess not.)

Yeah Altar's fix did it. Sorry my description was incredibly vague, lol. At least someone knew how to do it! :3

when I applied this fix, I went to cast Light Arts and the game crashed, this a known issue?

I did this but now my game crashes after loading either spellcast or recast, and both of them are the current version from the forums....

Just save the xml file directly from the link.

If you copy and paste it in the resources.xml, you need to delete the first line where it says something like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
or else it's going to crash.

Where is that line supposed to be?

Also make sure you have the latest version of Recast

Used my brain and fixed it.

I did what taru said, saved directly instead of trying to edit current.
