That error is typical during server issues/failure with SE.
So rest assure it should have nothing to do with your router/cables/ISP etc.
Best thing to do is be persistent and patient.

Update it was a random file update of 505 files guess there won't be any down time before the update on the 6th

they always seem to do two updates, one small, then the HUGE on on the day that most people usually can't download for ages.
