The people on here who say what do you need gil for anyway or gil is useless anymore kind of annoy me... Yes many drops are rare/ex and yes most of the old pieces are rather cheap now but if you don't have others to help you obtain pieces that you want that usually means having to buy them.
Not sure about you all but I use gil quite a bit Nin tools and food and soon ammo and cards for cor and rng those are all rare/ex right?
I make gil selling drops I can hopefully get in abyssea and doing the cruor npc thing but it takes a lot of cruor to get decent gil

You are aware that NPCing 2mil cruor works out as just shy of 4 million gil? And it really doesn't take that long, ~15mins a trip with tele now, 107k for 3 full sets @54k cruor. ~400k an hour imo isn't bad going.
You can make slightly more by being selective over which items (the 3k items npc more efficiently than the 4 and 5) & and if you had a hundred mules you could AH them for considerably more profit.
As somebody who survived almost exclusively selling IS/CP items (I leveled a lot) or doing BC/KSNMs, cruor is a godsend :D
Are you aware that there are NMs that if you get full drops soloing is worth a hell of a lot more than that 4 mil, and takes 1000 times less time?
Who knows what will be added at 99. I'm sitting on 2.9 million cruor, and by 99 I should be able to get 2 primevil brews and solo two big NMs. The drops will be worth more than close to 4 million gil of my time.
If you can't make money otherwise, then go ahead and npc cruor items, but it's not a good idea if you can make gil.
