You guys may shoot this down but I wanted to tell somebody, Sooo... I'm thinking if (and only if) there was a new job to come out I got one! Green Mage! They would be a melee mage and they're magic would consist of elemental enhancing magic. They would be like dark knights in the way that they hit large hits over time and not hit for big weapon skills. This would also change a lot for mage uses. It would a new type of dealing damage called "magic chaining" where you would chain together elemental enhancements onto your weapon (they're mastery weapon would be Great Sword since its slow big hitting and no one else masters yet to this date). The type of elemental enhancement would be opposite to the element of the creature you are currently attacking and would reset after each kill, making this job great for big bosses and not quick killing. The magic chains will start with the opposite of the creature and then have a match up of different elements that can, in the right circumstances, also add abilities to your attacks like paralyzes or simply hastes upon your weapon. So what do you think?

Ya Green mage was just what I called it but Mystic Knight is a cool name! I know it won't happen maybe I can make it in a private server if I put in a lot of work lol... Idk its just cool, and they won't nuke the servers because they got a new manger guy for FFXI and he just started he will do anything to keep it running.

Green Mage's spellset in TA2 (the only game thus far where "green mage" was a playable profession, though "Green Magick" was available in 12, you weren't limited by job to spells in that game) was basically Protect, Shell, Blind/Poison/Sleep etc, and then the unique Leap/Tranq.
So it had a whopping two spells to call its own, while the rest (in the proposed XI adaption) would be borrowed from 2-4 other jobs, since WHM/BLM/RDM/SCH have already had them for years I think it's safe to assume they wouldn't be taken away. Even if we did get GRN, with TA2's list, you'd have a character whose main function was single-target Mazurka and Madrigal. Y'know, sort of like we already have. It'd be an interesting job to see implemented with SE trying to make everything fair now, but I severely doubt we'd get anything really useful. Would probably sooner get something like Berserker or Sage(FFTA version). EDIT: To be fair, I wasn't considering the potential for melee properties in this post. To be more fair, this is because green mages used maces. Phoenix.Kirana
