Okay, so I contacted a GM finally about the potency drink removing haste when it wears. Just to see what they said, and apparently it's suppose to be this way.

He then went to give me an example that some status effects have an affect on spells, notably poison.

The potency drink gives the user haste but only for a short duration.

My guess is that when you used the drink the drink's "haste" overwrited the haste that you got from your own spell.

I guess explains my original question then. Never noticed it.

The drink gives you haste and potency. The haste is overwriting your spell haste.

Must've meant Silence to PREVENT you using certain spells.

Still though, how the heck do you confuse the two? And only certain spells? Do ANY spells get past Silence? Honest question.

First question is simple. He probably never played the game.

2nd is if you are a pc nothing. If you are a mob or your npc then as far as I know probably every spell though I've only seen silena and a couple of buffs lol. Always pissed me off when I was almost dead and the mob AOE silences and my npc that is already low on mp silena's itself and then just stands there like a tard while I die

Seems to be a simple mix-up of words; I would not look into it any further. He likely meant temporary use of all spells under silence.

As his statement stands, Paralyze sounds more likely than silence.

Is it not obvious what he meant?

He meant that poison can be overwritten by other poisons thus making the spell useless for the duration. Wow, come on guys, look at the context of the conversation not just the words.
