POL! Chat Support!

Been 5 days since i've been able to connect to FFXI. finally able to speak to someone on Chat Support and the first thing he said to me when i'd mentioned POL-0011 (mentioned in the form, I hadn't said anything to him at this point):


SEL Agent xxxxx: POL 0011 is a connection error
SEL Agent xxxxx: that has nothing to do with your internet connection
SEL Agent xxxxx: it is just about the connection between your system to our game server
SEL Agent xxxxx: are you using AOL by the way ?

Wow, i didnt know AOL was still in business....other than AIM.

They technically aren't in the UK, AOL UK is owned by TalkTalk, so it is nothing more than a trading name.

However.. I'm glad i did contact SE.. They given me the IP i'm losing connection on, sent me a troubleshooting guide n gave me some lines to throw at AOL ^_^ lol

I know nothing about the UK, but RR or Comcast will buy out an AoL contract, i love it.

Lol, gl trying to cancel with AOL.. *** will do anything to stop you, even as far as completely ignoring your requests to do so.. If I remember in the end we had to kill the Direct Debit to them, so they would close the account.

I never have cable companies withdraw from my account. Seen too many questionable things done with that.
And I'm speaking of Time Warner specifically.
Stepmom had Time Warner before moving, cancelled it moved, didn't have it for over 6 months and had paid everything off when she cancelled.
Apparently one of the 3rd party companies that handles some of the billing services decided to get her account information and start withdrawing money at random amounts like she was subscribing again, ***'s still being worked out with that, don't see her getting her money back any time soon if at all. That's how that ***works. I live a door away from Time Warner so I just walk there though.

gg people still pay ~$20 a month for DIAL UP?? WTF???

I pay $10/mo for dialup :x

and I'm at work right now so I'm rolling with Roadrunner Business Class.

I suppose ISPs are like that all over the world, huh ?

I'm happy enough I have a laggy ISP which bogs down my gameplay a lot but at least does not disconnect me every 5 minutes.

just hard to believe really. I know some areas still are 'black holes' for Hi-speed internet (I know my friend who lives in one), its just kinda sad seeing people in 2010 paying for something thats still from the mid-late 1990s. I couldn't imagine playing ANYTHING on Dial-up nowadays :x
