(FFXIV) Crafting

Sooo... I go to Eorozpdia.com or w/e... and I see to make a shield the shield says "Minimal Rank 9" on the actual picture of the shields stats it says "Optimal Rank 9".....

I'm confused as hell cause we had this on the "Bronze Dagger" too, at first I thought it meant... "You need GLD Rank 9 to use the Dagger, but I put it on as a level 1 O_o?

Well the question is.... How do I know what level I should be to craft certain things? I get different numbers from different sites... and sometimes I dont even think its the level needed for the craft itself....

Trial and error.

I just do what I did in FFXI, but with a little more leeway.

http://ffxiv.yg.com/ is my preferred site for crafting, the level listed here is the optimal level, and you can go 8 skill levels below it to be able to keep a high chance of success.
