No idea if it's been addressed yet, or a problem for others but...is it just me or does it seem like there's not an abundance of low level mobs outside of the cities; compared to starting out in FFXI?

There were worms and rabbits every where you turned :<!!

I know open beta just started and that there is a lot of people leveling off of them... but seriously it seems like I have to go across the whole map for something lol D:
Lvl1 Levequests

Do them. By the time you finish all that you can, you can start exploring the areas and figure things out.

Actually come to think of it. I'm dumb. Of course they aren't going to have their normal - max amount of mobs just in beta xD

But still :< it'd be nice to see what they have in store for players starting out.

Yeah :) Those are cool, but it does suck that when you d/c you automatically fail -_-

That actually happened to me last night after making a new class to play with

The game crashes. A lot. To the point I gave up playing after an hour or so. It crashes logging in, crashes opening the Linkshell menu, crashes (almost always) during leves.

So with the release two weeks away (give or take) who thinks the release day should be pushed back until it is actually stable?

The game is unstable on anything but the most cutting edge driver versions. As in, there may be ATI or nVidia driver updates that have come out in the last couple weeks just for this game.

I advise manually going to the sites and checking your versions. SE seems to have written off any previous versions as fundamentally incompatible.

The game may also crash if your client runs out of memory. This seems to happens a lot if you don't have much RAM, as the client is a bit memleaky at the moment.

Sweet baby Jesus the camera angle is horrid in this game. I spent 5 minutes trying to walk a straight line. If there would've been an npc cop he would've gave me a breathalyzer test. I've tried keyboard and game pad with no luck on the camera issue. Maybe if it had a sensitivity option or you could just fix the camera above and behind the character that'd probably fix it.

Other than that I cant seem to find the way out of town to start these stupid "Leve" Missions or whatever. Whenever I go to an exit from the city it says I cannot leave. Im sure its just I have to go talk to someone but its so laggy half the npc's dont even show up.

I updated my drivers and gained like 1000 points on the benchmark vs the Windows Update drivers. This was about a month and a half ago. My video card isn't that old either. Its a nvidia GTX 275 with 896?MB video ram. Computer has 4 gigs of its own memory also. The latest drivers for the card were released on July 19, 2010 (even looked for updated beta drivers).

Does the game run stable for anyone?

It runs pretty stable for me. I've only had one crash in my whole beta experience so far. Then again I have a beast of a machine.

I found a solution for all laptop users that are experiencing over heated fans. This type of fan is the shape size of a lap top that fits underneath your lap top with a fan centered in the middle. It can reduce the heat of your laptop by 50% and useful especially whenever you play FFXIV.

Here's the link if you want to know what's it look like

Remember how a few posts ago I was like "The client is super stable for me?"

Yeah, not so much. I just got lucky the first day or two. It now reliably (but randomly!) crashes every couple hours with no repro case. I lose about 1 out of every 4 guildleves I try because of it.

Do you think it crashes often because of the game or the heat caused in Pc's? I wonder. I seem to crash much less now since I got the cooling pad on my laptop now.

Word is some type of memory leak is causing the crashes, which is probably nearly independent from temps. But that's just what I heard on the grapevine.

Nothing to do with heat in my end, I have 6+ sensors throughout the case, and directly on the CPU, etc, and it never goes much above normal operating temperature.

I'm getting some Crashes every now and then. So I started running EVGA Precision. I'm noticing some weird stuff that I dont think should happen with a video card.

Taking a look at the way my card is running. In town in using up 67% of my GPU usuage. Outside of towns I'm at 99% (fulltime).

Now, when I get those stutters my GPU usuage goes from 99% and plumpets to 60%~ish. Sometimes I'll hit 0% and thats when i immediatly crash on xiv. This just doesn't sound ideal for a video card to behave. It's not just my card though. Few other people I spoke to that have the 400 series is seeing this weird behavior. A friend of mine, I was talking to has a gtx470, and she didn't notice any problems until I said something. So i think those ppl who are claiming to "run like gold", just dont realize what is exactly going on.

I posted this on another forum topic I started but here goes again.

i7 860@ 2.80 GHz
Nvidia GTX465
4.0 GB RAM

If you keep having some crashing, pay attention to what else is going on. The crashes might be comming from the faulty(XIV) driver, that Nvidia is supposed to be fixing.

Oh. I don' have pics of the case, but I got the benchmark if it helps. I can take a pic of the case, but it's just the standard Alienware Area-51 black case with the little heat fins on servo motors 'n such.

I really doubt the bench mark. My computer runs like cake walk in the beta specially in the lagy areas. I get the yellow connection that is only when I'm in a polluted area.
