Attention: Scam Attempts Via E-Mail

I just received this:

that the account in question is being sold or traded. As you may not be aware
of, this conflicts with FINAL FANTASY XI's EULA under section 4 Paragraph B which can

Via an E-Mail. I had already gotten quite a few 'WoW Account closed' scams even though I don't play WoW.
They've been spamming a lot lately, but this was my first ffxi scam.
I don't know yet if it was a random mail or if they somehow got my mail adress, but except for ffxiah.com and playonline, like noone having anything to do with ffxi has my E-Mail adress.

So be warned and be careful


Responses if anyone else has seen this or if there have already been posts about it would be appreciated, I've been on Holidays for a week so I might've missed it.

This is the "Real" html. All this other crap is mirror sites and if you provided info to them and your account hasn't been changed...give it another day or two...they have so many suckers to rob and only so many hours in a day...

Think for just a minute. Not only has Square Enix said multiple times they won't ask for your password...just use logic for a minute...

The "Real" square enix can access your account anytime they want to with just your playonline ID...the "real" SE does not require a password even when you call them for account/billing or technical support

They will ask for playonline ID, address, date of birth and the first and last 4 digits of the credit card paying for the account. And I repeat...

The REAL Square Enix does not need your password...

if you have plugged it in to a mirror site...see you in a week or two after you go through game data recovery...>.<

Trolls are a nuisance and if this turns out to be a troll thread, it will be closed right away.

Nah, I rate you up. It's a good idea to point these scams out. Most experienced players spot these and laugh them off, but new players might not be aware that "yes, someone is trying to steal your shizz".

I apologize I came off trollish...didn't mean too. I was hoping to make a contribution. For curiosity I checked the "you won a prize" one...in all seriousness, that mirror site is pretty clever except they ask for a password...that's why I was strong about the password thingy...SE won't ask for that

As far as being able to do anything about it, I doubt it. There might be some kind of copyright violation for SE since the hacks are basically stealing their webpage layout and using it for criminal intent...other than that, I don't think SE can do anything...maybe track their IP and ban it, but I don't know if they can do that either.
