anyone else having a issue where you can go ahead and check your version and update ahead of time i am getting a error

I've gotten many D: errors i've given up on trying to update.

Got it 40 times then finnaly update, then said it was gonna take 60+ hours so i gave up
Tbe worst part was when I was at 50% downloading and it crashed and I had to start all over.
close your viewer and log back in worked for me !

my update was working fine it downloaded 200 files and now every time i try to check version i get version update failed.
square needs to allow us to download this stuff in advance like the week before the maint when i go to work it can download so when the *** maint is over i can log on not wait 5 hrs for the windows download that they said takes 10 mins
Edit: how about more servers to download the update from spread out on different connections that would speed this up more than a little

Oops never noticed there was already a thread for this. I posted saying my gf got problems with ROM250/50.dat. Just been trying over and over till it works.
All of those errors are signs of server congestion.
Many-a-time I have updated and gotten this type of error during maintenence, you either get the POL 1160 error or you get a file error due to server congestion.
Edit: You can either keep trying or try when the server is less full of people also trying to be first on a server.

the idiots at square know they dont have the space to download all of this crap they should plan ahead and open up another server somewhere for the download

My only really compliant about the update is how can we still be having connection/download problems when the population of the game is considerably lower than what it once was.
Just means you got congested on the first file.
It can happen on ANY of the files, the busier the server the more likely of getting an error...

eaven with the lower population of the game its still X number of people trying to download 2000 files from 1 server. in simple words they have created the worlds biggest clusterfuck
well here is a fun bump to my post i am just sitting here and kept hitting retry retry retry and now it is downloading it all haha 1 hour to go hope it doesnt dc in the mean time

i hit retry every couple times ill get the update check it will check the files then stall on the 1st one it trys to download
It jumped up to 14 hours now it's on Unknown... I've been stuck on 82.dat for almost an hour :\ i'm afraid of restarting too cause it took forever to just get this far...

yea square needs to stop dicking around they have the money buy 5 more servers to setup for the *** downloads
may have been *** by the 1hr added on, hold on a bit.

Im getting a network busy message...so ya I just got home from work and junk..
