I heard this game is Free to Play and Free to Download. Is this true and what's the catch?
WELL, this needs to be bumped a lot more.

There's a store where you can spend real money to get stuff, but none of it is needed. Can get more inventory space (which can be solved normally with mules), outfits for your characters, mounts, emotes, furniture, and stuff. Most of what you can get you can buy in-game as well, just some of it is very expensive (mounts). I'm playing on Tiamat myself, totally free.
What's the demand as far as computer specs for this game? I'm curious if my craptastic computer could handle it.
dat blue

Is this true and what's the catch? Catch is it's like every other F2P out there right now, solid but unspectacular, fun but flawed, good but not great. I've been round alot of F2P since I quit FFXI to build a picture of the MMORPG landscape right now and they are all more or less the same. All use the WoW blueprint for gameplay, combat, questing etc. It all depends upon the novelty factor and the relevance it has to your interests, for instance I'm enjoying LOTRO more than I did STO and Aion for despite them playing exactly the same, the reason simply being because I like Lord of the Rings! All the F2P out there are not quite up to the standard of WoW, but that's why WoW is not free. Consider WoW as the 5 star benchmark for this kind of MMO and the F2P as 3 star. It just depends which one you find is more fun for you :) Ramuh.Sagittario said: » Cerberus.Kalyna said: » I heard this game is Free to Play and Free to Download. Is this true and what's the catch? Well, I'm sorry your opinions on the game vary from other people's. WoW is the giant 600 lb gorilla on the corner you can't ignore. It literally laid the groundwork for future mmos simply based on its success. So seeing later mmo's follow that isn't surprising. I feel it differs from WoW a lot as leveling is a bit slower and heavily integrates PvP into the core part of the same, instead of separating the two mostly with PvE and PvP servers. I also feel like Aion has a lot more challenge throughout the game because of the PvP, as well as most bosses and instances have challenging aspects built in to them which I didn't feel WoW had from the time I played to cap during WotLK. On top of the game is entirely free to play with a cash shop for items that aren't needed or can be bought in-game. It's more like how LoL is entirely free to play but you spend money on it for skins and other things that don't directly affect core gameplay. I'd honestly say try it if you have any interest in it and if your wishy-washy on it don't. Some of us play and it makes a lot of things convenient for the players where say ffxi made everything a hassle when it comes to helping people. Actually, mostly everything. Edit: WoW really appeals to everyone who games and even pulled in people who don't. Aion I feel isn't the same way, for reasons that I said as well. I personally enjoy Aion more, but am just throwing out more opinions on the game. I love Aion due to its PvP implementation, especially since it's mostly been fixed at this point. Wasn't so fun when you had literally no chance of success in the face of an SM.
also taiichis twin evil brother tatsuuo just for fun :P so i can see the asmos stuff too :D
![]() I never made an Asmo... but their zones are so much better than Elyos. I played in Beta/at launch, and I was like, "Ok Elyos will totally have the pretty zones!"
Desert. desert. desert. ...desert. k. The leveling is pretty crappy, questing is just soooooo boring.

Focusing on campaigns and instances levels you absurdly fast. And leveling is still really fast regardless. I've focused on only doing the campaign quests, the only instance available to me atm is the first one, harenham or something like that.
I'm one of the weird *** that actually liked grinding things like Lepharists for seals to trade for the uber *** accessories (at the time, Abyss point rewards were pretty ***). :| So grinding never seemed too bad to me.

I know that's PVP and not PVE, but from Rising Force Online then later Aion, I always learned to move my camera around and look all over (particularly behind me) even when just leveling in open-area PVP games. :p It's sort of a paranoia thing after a while, but at the same time it's a testament to the fact that players are always going to be the more imaginative and dangerous (and thus scary) opponent than PVE critters. |
