The guidelines and rules listed below explain what behavior is expected of you and what behavior you can expect from other community members. Note that the following guidelines are not exhaustive, and may not address all manner of offensive behavior. The forum admins/moderators shall have full discretion to address any behavior that they feel is inappropriate.
Your access to these forums is a privilege, and not a right. Admins of FFXIAH reserve the right to suspend your access to these forums at any time for reasons that include, but are not necessarily limited to, your failure to abide by these guidelines. If your behavior on the forums is sufficiently disruptive, we also reserve the right to deactivate your account site-wide.

Courtesy
Common courtesy is a respect everyone should give and receive on the forum. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, whether you agree with it or not, and should be treated with courtesy as you would want for yourself.
Debates and arguments are a perfectly acceptable part of forum dialogue. While some tend to get heated, mutual respect is still required. You are urged to keep topics on track so that others can find the thread useful to the information they may be seeking. Threads that are created should be under the appropriate category and provided with the information the poster is giving or wants to receive.
Derails or trolling will always happen on any type of forum, but for most cases, we ask you to keep the following guidelines in mind.

Flaming
Fighting/flaming should go to the Flame Core section. Flame Core Though it is less moderated, there are exceptions:

Inappropriate Content
Continuous language or links to websites containing obscene/vulgar language or images, which fall under the following categories, is deemed to be inappropriate for our site, and the forum admins/moderators have full discretion to handle the situation. Instances of the following behavior result in you being banned from the forum thread. Repeated offenses can result in a ban from posting on the entire forum.
Discrimination based on race, gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation
Real-Life threats or the public distribution of real-life personal information
Nudity, pornography, or other age-inappropriate material

If it would potentially get you in legal trouble for saying it publicly in real life, don't put it here.
Most of this is not our call. There are very specific FCC and other guidelines we must follow if we want to stay operational. Please help us do so.
Language
We do not censor language*, however, common courtesy comes into affect and excessive use of vulgar/obscene language is inappropriate. There is a point where vulgarity ceases to help make your point and becomes swearing just for the sake of swearing, which isn't useful to anyone. We may ask you to tone it down if the profanity is completely excessive.
* Vulgar words are auto-censored if you haven't verified your age or you are under 13 years old.
Please remember we have many posters who don't have English as a first language. Instead of making fun of them, try to help the poster with the information they seek. We want all posters to feel welcomed.
Images
We try not to limit or censor images on our forum, but the use of the IMG tag has become a major point of abuse and inappropriate content on our forum in the past. Use of this feature is extended with a very stern warning: do not post anything that visually goes against our forum rules or we may be forced to disable the feature forum-wide.
Ongoing Harassment
Harassment takes many forms, and is not necessarily limited to the type of language used. PM harassment and repeatedly targeting a specific member with harassment through player comments, item comments, screenshots, or other site features can and will get you banned. If you are being harassed, please PM a site administrator with specific links demonstrating the harassment and we will investigate.

The bottom line is that we want the FFXIAH Forums to be a fun and safe environment for all members. Posting on the forums, you will encounter other people who share different experiences and come from vastly different backgrounds.
While certain language and images may not be offensive to you, consider the fact that that same language and images may have a completely different effect on someone else. For every person who actively participates on these forums, up to 300 others only read. Think before you post.
