Random Synthing Failures

The other day I was in the woodworking guild in Sandy, and was talking to a fellow woodworker while we were synthing. He mentioned that as he had been making bolts he would randomly have his synths cut off and get the message, "you lost the crystal and materials you were using". I had only received that message when I was on a airhip and the airship takes off. I thought it was weird too.

Then last night I was doing some staves. My first attempt with a wind bead and ebony lumber, the same thing happened to me. All of sudden my cryal and materials were gone and I got the same message, I didn't even get the synthesis visual, or break visual.

Has this happened to anyone else, any ideas of what might of happened? The only person told me that he turned on blockaid, but I've never heard of that. I do know that if you are synthing and someone casts a spell on you that causes a failure, but there was only one other person in the room at the time, and he himself was doing staves. I didn't notice or see any message that he interfered with me in anyway.

Do you think I would have any luck getting my bead back from a GM?

They won't restore lost items. This has been happening to me a lot since the random R0s started. After losing several adaman ingots to this HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE glitch I just gave up on Smithing until they fix it or change their policy on restoring the lost items.

happened to me as well on numerous occasions. luckily not with anything terribly expensive, but it's still frustrating.

When it happens to me, it generally happens a couple times in a row (which of course just makes me stop crafting lol).

This used to happen to me on a regular basis. Nothing expensive but annoying just the same.

After resolving an issue where my firewall was blocking random packets it stopped. Since then it has only happened during a R0 or bad lag spike.

That has happened to me also in the past, however the item actually was crafted and was in my inventory. The message was in error.

I had that happen in the guild a lot, so started synthing in my mog house instead ._.;, works a lot better now ^^

One day, I had this happen seven times while synthing Acid Bolts so I paged a GM. The GM told me that it was likely an issue with connectivity or general lag, and reccomended synthing in my mog house or just waiting extra long between synths to prevent the problem from occuring. Since then, I try to give myself a breather between synthesis and have only had it happen once more (I got impatient).

Hopefully this will eventually be fixed. I did noticed that after I got that message doing the bolts I had more than I thought I should have when I was done(but it was a big *** batch, so I just wrote it off).

Normally the only way to get your crafting interrupted and lose all materials is to do one of the following things:
- Zone (airship for example)
- Move
- Start a conversation with a npc

I do think they fixed that you won't be interrupted by spells anymore
But I'm guessing that the R0's might also add to this as the server will think you're disconnecting or somethings, and considers the craft a fail.

My mats were def lost. I'm not rich enough to synth adaman sheets in large quantities so I notice when a couple are missing :x
