Hello FFXI community! Hit of Asura here, <long time> lurker and recently, /random poster. This is the first thread I've started, and to kick things off I'd like to discuss a common complaint I see come up in most of the "FFXI vs. WoW" arguments. The issue in question of course is the elitist ideal that seems to have terminally poisoned the attitude of so many endgame players. I understand that in most cases it takes a lot of time and effort to reach a point where, as a player, you have met and overcome many of the obstacles the game presents. Be it obtaining several 75 jobs, crafting @ high levels, storyline missions, endgame NM instances, or managing a large scale ls of varying purpose. I also understand that when you reach this point, in certain situations you want to surround yourself with players who have achieved a similar success, and are capable of operating on the same level. I also understand that it can be frustrating conveying this idea to less experienced players you will encounter from time to time in various situations. Personally I am in the middle ground. I have a clear view and respect for both sides. I enjoy playing and adventuring with players at all skill levels, and understand that the new players I encounter are the true life blood of this game. Within the next year or two, with the release of FFIV looming ahead of us, there are going to be many changes. At the beginning of this year I started my ls. My preferred area to recruit has always been been lower Jeuno, as it is a melting pot of players @ different skill levels. (you get the idea) In January I would walk away with at least 6-10 low to mid level players from each shouting session, now I'm lucky if i get 2! I have seen several of my good friends quit as a result of interactions with players at the endgame level. Guys at the top listen up, your words and actions paint a portrait of what rewards the game holds for perseverant players. The future of the community is really in your hands. Discuss.
