Thought provoking thread.

There are people who think very different than the general norm, who's knowledge is either skewed or advanced in a way where they are able to look at life differently than anyone else. Because they are able to view life in a different light, they are generally outcasted from society, or treated in a way where they either don't express their views or get ridiculed every time they show some different point of view.

Is this right?

Should it be acceptable to throw away valuable resources just to keep the greater number of people thinking the same way?

Does different opinions really that dangerous that we have to tell them to change their ways or they won't be listened?

If somebody wish to be an outcast, do we accept them for who they are, or do we as social beings, have the right/obligation to "force" them to intergrate with ourselves?

Why must we have to outcast them anyway? If we wish to advance, and we know to advance we have to accept things we don't understand, why do we push them to the point where they have to live outside our way of thinking?

What are your views on this topic?

Personally, I'm fkin tired of never being allowed to put my point across.
Most of the time, the only time I get the chance is online.

I was diagnosed with Avoidant Personality Disorder over a decade ago, and it was caused by a constant forcefeeding of not being "good enough". If I excelled academically, I was ostracised by my peers. If I tried to be accepted socially, my family and my teachers came down on me like the proverbial ton of bricks. So I never felt accepted.

Even playing XI, more often than not I find myself becoming rapidly frustrated with people who won't listen, who take ffwiki/alla/bg/etc as gospel, and won't even try to achieve things themselves.
Its pretty much a pan-server pandemic, I've bounced across eight servers now, they've all exhibited it.

Endgame is even worse, you have to know people, convince them you know your job the way they want you to know it, and jump through their hoops, and 80% of the time you'll never match their standards, or they'll rip you off.
The other 20%, is so damned insular, you'll never crack into their little cliques regardless.

*** em all, embrace your outcastness.

Hmmm, it's more of a harmonic blend of the two to be honest.

"Outcasts" as you put it, see the current society and believe it isn't the society for them to be apart of, thus they either find a place of like-minded people (i.e. the internet, or a community) to engage socially with another, or become hermits and living comfortably in solitude (Hikikomori's are both: a hermit, yet socially active on the internet).

About the same for me (maybe closer to 3 years) and still going. The 2~3 years of being a Hikikomori has also been quite enlightening for me (Been piecing together a so-far pretty valid theory on what has happened to our universe, it helps having a lot of time to ponder <_<!).

And I can see where you're coming from Korpg, but as long as the world keeps confronting everything with complicated solutions, us "outcasts" will always be in the shadows /facepalming @ Society.

Theres no such thing as the "individual trait" anymore. All you emo *** think you're "different" because you think/dress/act different than social norms. Well guess what, you weren't the first dumbass to think that, and you certainly won't be the last.

Sure, maybe what separates you from the other guy might be a musical talent, a higher IQ, or a sixth toe, but in the end, in the grand scheme of things, you're just another ugly mouth breather living on borrowed time.

What you need to do, is focus on you and what makes you happy.

...then some guy named 'kungfuhustle' came along, and fiat lux.

Thank you, I really hadn't thought about that! You've changed the course of my life!

Again, like I said before. Humans are designed for relationships. They are not meant to walk solitary paths and will often fail doing so.

All the outcasts will eventually share pieces of information with one another and eventually establish a group where they will gain reputation and what not and filter their ideas into the mainstream. There will be resistance, but if it so important for them to establish as truth, then there must be lengths taken in order to prove it.

The earth is flat.
No, the earth is round.
No, you will not fall off the edge, really. I can prove it.

There is an innate fear of change because it will shake identities to the core and we cling to our identities because it's all we really have.

It's the fear of loosing one's self is why we have knee-jerk 'OMGNO' reactions to what we believe is right.

And no, an outcast is not welcomed in a society, and no society has an obligation on them, it's the outcast decision to declare themselves an outcast, and societies are pretty accepting of differences as long as they are not major enough to warrant a complete cultural clash.

Besides, some outcasts have no human empathy skill which just not help them. Try to relate to people and convince them that they have come to your view through their own methods and stop 'telling' them the right thing. They won't listen, ever.

I'll posit that some of these "outcasts" aren't 'suffering' from a lack of empathy, as was stated; it's the opposite.

I didn't start out some misanthropic nihilistic ***, I was very much a 'humanist' in my younger days. It's the callousness of human interaction [and society] that led to a development of 'thick skin'.

I can't entertain pie in the sky fantasies about the good of men when empirical evidence shows that people can never--as a whole--improve.

Of course how you proceed in life is a matter of subjective perception of "worth"; as such, I find that anything of "worth" in life [to me] is defined by a recovery from suffering, it needn't be necessarily a progressive recovery, as long as there is some form of "improvement": my misery is my happiness.

edited to elaborate

So I'm guessing that if you don't/haven't left your house for 2.5 years, then you can't have a job.

If you don't have a job, then you either have no money, or get money from the government.

If you get money from the government, that means that the other people (society) that you so hate, is PAYING for you to avoid them.

Am I getting this right?
